s/o thank you notes.

Do you typically send them for gifts other than wedding gifts?

Like Birthday? Graduation? Christmas? Other holdiay? Whenever?

I don't usually get birthday gifts from anyone other than my parents and FI, so I don't send thank yous for those. I do send thank you notes for Natalie's Birthday gifts that she gets.

I did send them out when I graduated.

I don't send them at Christmas. Again, with this one I only get gifts from FI and parents and whoever my secret santa is (we do this with my extended family)

I sent them for my graduation gifts, but other than that I don't normally send them.  I'm like Holly....only my FI and parents get me gifts, too.  I do thank them in person, but no actual TY card.

I send one whenever I receive a gift from a family member.  With friends I just tend to shoot them an email or thank them in person.

See.  I only ever sent notes for graduation gifts, and I'm planning to for wedding gifts. My family only gives Christmas or Birthday gifts to my generation, we've never received a note from any of my cousins, and I never thought to send a note for those things.  The more I think about that the more odd it seems to send a note for one but not the other.

I typically just thank in person for b-day gifts & things like that. It depends on who it is too. I definitely sent them for graduation, bridal shower & wedding gifts.

I think with weddings, showers, and graduation, there is so much going on you normally don't get the opportunity to say "thank you" in person, so it is polite to send a note.  With birthdays and Christmas, more than likely, the gift is being handed to you, and you can hug them and say thank you in person.

We're sending written TY notes to all attendees of all pre-parties & showers, regardless of whether a gift is given or not (although most have brought something small), just to thank them for celebrating with us. It's a smaller wedding anyways, so by default our showers have been smaller too.

And we're sending for gifts that arrive by mail and for gifts from the wedding..but going back to the post from yesterday, if you send TY notes as you recieve gifts/have events, it definitely helps!

I sent them when we got a bunch of housewarming gifts last year.  Also usually send to my grandparents at Christmas when they send us money.  Other than that, if its clse friends, and its thngs like birthdays and Christmas I just thank in person or over the phone.  I am more likely to send a TY card if its for something unusual (again, like housewarming gifts).
