Question for the Mandalay Brides

So after much research and discussion, we have decided on Mandalay for our wedding and in suite reception. I know that there were some issues a few months back with people booking the Vista or Media suite for their receptions and then getting bumped when they went to check in. However a few knotties had called THEchapel and they linked their reservation to the wedding? Or something like that.

So... for those that did this:
1. We have already booked Masterpiece for our catering. The room service thing is WAY out of our budget. Did you tell them (the chapel) it was for an in suite reception?
2. I understand that official hotel policy anywhere is that you have to go through their catering/room service, but people pull off Masterpiece all the time and Scott says its not a problem. Still makes me nervous, but guess we will have to see!
3. For those that did get bumped- where did they bump you? Lesser suite? Better suite?
4. I have seen the PDF with the THEhotel suites that are not listed online floating around before. Did you go through regular reservations over the phone to get those booked? Can someone send that PDF again if you have it?

Sorry for all the questions- but I need to get this booked and done ASAP. This board is always so helpful... TIA

ETA: For those that have dealt with reservations for the upgraded suites at THEhotel- do you have an email or phone #? I must be blind bc I cannot find it anywhere online.

From my understanding, those that are getting married at MB haven't had the same or as severe issues that those who got married in another chapel and are doing the in suite at MB.  With that being said, I worried about the suite from th second I got there until about 15 minutes into the recpetion ( I'm a worry wart). I would talk to your MB wedding cooridator and have her book your suite.

We had no problems at all, though. No prolems getting into the suite or problems while in the suite. The bellmen helped us get the booze and cake up the the room and the bathroom in the Vista suite somehow got locked shut and a maintenatince person came up and fixed it for us.

I worried alot for nothing :)

I would just avoid telling them about Masterpiece.

    Hey fello SA/ Vegas knottie!

I think I remember reading your reviews, which is one of the reasons I went back to thinking Mandalay. If I remember correctly- you did your in suite totally on your own, no MB catering, etc. right?

My prob is I dont want to tell the WC that it is for an in suite and then have some sort of hassle bringing Masterpiece in.

What kiminor said... I am a MB bride and was gonna do the vista suite reception but I didn't want to chance getting that one security guard that would kick us out and decide that night he would enforce the policy. Something like that would totally ruin the whole day so I opted for the Stardust suite instead.

Hola! I did the suite on my own, no MB catering. We used outside EVERYTHING. Even rented Trash cans, coolers and a lattice room divider. We had  the bell man carry everything up to the suite, too, which is way more noticeable than Materpiece will be.(Cases of beer, a wedding cake, two big trashcans) I would just ask her( your WC) to book the room at the chapel rate, not tell her what its for. That's how I did it.

One word of caution- the in suite route is awesome. Our guests LOVED it. They never expereinced a wedding like ours. We LOVED it but it was a lot of work on our part. While our guests were enjoying the pool and gambling, we were changing rooms, picking up rentals, reaaranging the furnature in the suite. Thanks goodness for my amazing husband who kept everything moving!

Of course we had help, but we really wanted our guests to enjoy Vegas so we wanted to do the majority of the work. We had time in the evenings to hang out every night, but man oh man, we were pooped!

I am getting married at Mandalay Bay and having an in suite at THEhotel.  My wedding coordinator booked my L Suite.  She knows I am having Masterpiece cater.  She has never once said I couldn't have outside catering.  I think you will be fine if you book your suite through your coordinator. No need to worry about it

Hi!  I'm going to be a MB bride on 11/11/11.  I am trying to figure out what to tip my wedding coordinator from their chapel.   Does anyone have any ideas about how much?  I'm thinking $200.  Is this in the ballpark or am I crazy?   15% of the chapel bill total for that day is almost $500.  That just seems like a lot.   Please help - thanks!
