Dress Alterations-PIP

I just had my first appointment. I didn't go to the cheapest place on earth and my dress did need a lot of work. It was way too big, not fluffy enough, etc. The seamstress hooked it up, though, and I am finally happy about it. But $300 later?!?!?! My dress only cost $400! Lord! At least it will be tailor-made!

Here's a couple sneak peak's of my necklace and the back of the dress. Don't mind the weird look on my face...LOL. And the train is longer than the pic shows, but not much.

I know what you mean.  My alterations were $300 and I almost had a panic attack right then and there.

WOW you look amazing! That is pretty expensive though - lucky you got it for so cheap in the first place.

Really, Sophia? I guess I shouldn't be trippin' then if that's the going rate to alter a dress! I had boning put into the sides, the sides taken in, the skirt lifted so it fits higher on my thighs and right under my booty, I also had a layer of tulle put under the skirt to poof it out more and some of the slit swen down so it doesn't go all the way up to va-jay-jay. I hate how expensive all this stuff is!

Posted by krisstyle12 No I think I got robbed because all she did was take in the waist a little, add in some cups up top and do a simple bustle and I also added the petticoat and that was 300 : I coulda shopped around but I just didn't have the energy nor the time.

I heard the women at the bridal store where I got my dress quoting $200 for a bustle so I;m afraid to find out how much mine will be considering I want straps made etc...
I love your dress!  It looks fabulous and the back is super sexy, definitely well worth it

I think alterations is one of the scariest expenses in that it can be hard to gauge how much it will be depending on what you need... I included a couple hundred for mine in my budget hoping that will cover it since my dress is a shealth style dress without all the layers, etc. However, I know I will need it hemmed and it taken in the top.
