Nevada-Las Vegas

Tell me about your Vegas Strip wedding please!

Hi ladies,

DF and I are contemplating a vegas wedding, preferrably at a resort on the strip, so I'd love to hear where/what you are all doing.

What hotel are you getting married at? Where is the reception/dinner? How much are the rooms going to cost your guests? Did you get a group rate, etc? How much are you spending? How do I even start? LOL

Thanks!

I'll go first!! I fly out to Vegas on Saturday (from Australia) and it's getting close now...

We have 21 guests coming with us (most from Australia and 2 from the US) and most are coming for a week. We've organised bachelor & bahelorette parties a few days before (I don't know the details of these).

Everyone booked different hotels (most used Expedia). We're staying at MGM Signature and got a great deal by booking private. Most of our guests are at NYNY  or excalibur.

On the day of the wedding we have a ceremony at Venetian, followed by Gondola rides for us and all of the guests (we'll have a white gondola). We've then arranged a party bus for 2 hours and we'll pile everyone in there so they can party while the bridal party do photos around the strip. We figured this way no one had to fill in time during photos - we'll have music & drinks on board for everyone.

We then return to the Venetian and have a private bar for 1 1/2 hours at Canalletto Restaurant, followed by a sit down reception in a private room at the same restaurant.

Can't wait!! I'm sure you'll hear lots of totally different experiences - that's the beauty of Vegas - you can do whatever you want!

I'm getting married at Chapel of the Flowers, so can't help with the hotel chapels. The link below is a list of vegas knotties. I found it really helpful to read their bios and visit their websites for vendor info/reviews and also pictures from marriend knotties.  Good luck with the planning process. The ladies here are very helpful.

I'm getting married and having the reception in the Vista Suite at Mandalay Bay, with about 40 guests.  They're staying at all different hotels; most of the hotels don't give group rates unless you're booking a convention-sized block.

I found the Vegas FAQ to be very helpful; I don't have the link but I know several people on the boards have it in their signatures.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

We're getting married at the Bellagio in May, on the Terrazo di Sogno.  It's going to be $4000 for the ceremony.  Our reception will probably be at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris- the private room we're using has a minimum of $1500.  Bellagio doesn't give any room specials for guests, and only $50 off rack rate for the bride & groom.  It's cheaper to book through Expedia- it looks like it's going to cost our guest about $400 each for 2 nights plus RT airfare from Denver.

    Hi!

We are having our ceremony at the Caesars Palace.  We got the basic package for $800(wedding's on a Thursday) We have to pay extra for attendents, $100/couple.

We are having an in suite reception at the MGM Grand for 65+ people, our food is being catered in, which I am sure we will have more than enough food because my mom wanted to go nuts!! We did a room block at the MGM so we'd get 1/2 off the suite for 2 nights.  I got a promo from smartervegas.com and the rooms were only $62/nt mon-thurs and fri-sat just over $100.  Our guest are coming and going when they please but everyone will there there for wed & thurs. Everyone is booking their own flights, some guests have used their flyer miles and I got mine round trip for $189.

This board has helped me a ton in planning! Hope this helps!
    Good Luck with everything!

Total cost for our room from mon-sat night is $509 and the suite for 2 nights is $1200, but this is our honeymoon also.

I am getting married May 22 in the Mandalay Bay Chapel. We are having an in-suite reception in the Vista suite (also located in Mandalay Bay. We will have appetizers and cake and booze. We aren't getting married til 7:15pm, so most people will eat dinner beforehand. We will have a first dance and a father-daughter/mother-son dance, but we will forego the other traditions like the bouquet toss.

As for budget, we are spending about $5000-$6000 on the wedding itself not including our accomodations.

Most of our guests are staying either at Mandalay Bay/THE HOTEL or Excalibur or the Luxor. Someone posted yesterday a promotion for the Excalibur and several friends have taken advantage of the deal.

    Hope all of this helps!

We're getting married on March 27 at the Mandalay Bay chapel and having a dinner for our guests afterwards at Rumjungle.  After dinner, a group of us will be hitting some of the bars and clubs located at MB.

In terms of costs, we are using the Opal Shores chapel package ($1800) and the Rodizio dinner package at Rumjungle with wine/beer for 2 hours (about $80 pp).

We only  have a few friends coming in from out of town (we're local, so are most of our guests), so we provided contact information on our wedding website for the MB and other hotels that are nearby.

    HTH!

We were married in the chapel at Treasure Island, and we had our reception at Andre's French Restaurant. I loved everything about my wedding and wouldn't have changed a thing about it. If you're interested I have a bunch more info. and pics in my married bio. (Link in signature).

As for how to get started, the thing I found most helpful was to look at a bunch of different knottie's bios to see what I liked and didn't like. A picture's worth a thousand words, so that's a great place to start.

Welcome to the board and happy planning!

We just got married in December. We got married at Paris and had 60 guests. All of our guests stayed at Paris and the rooms averaged about $100/night. Most everyone went Thursday-Sunday/Monday. Our wedding was Saturday. Paris has about 6 different wedding packages at varying prices. (Most of the strip hotels have a variety of wedding options/prices).
We loved the location of Paris and it is connected to Ballys which offers cheaper rooms. We had a 10% discount for our guests on the rooms but it was usually cheaper to book flight and hotel together.

I loved checking out everyone's planning bios. They were super helpful. If you have the time and budget, a few day planning/scouting trip to Vegas is extremely helpful!

I got married Sept 19th in the Venus Gardens at Caesars. We also had our reception there for about 75 guests. The reception was very convenient after the ceremony, it was located an elevator ride from the ceremony to the 2nd floor. We had the Caesars package at $4100, but I feel that we should've just done one of the lower priced ones. The reception was about $15000 which included the hall, food, bar, cake and all fees (like labor, dance floor, etc.). We could've used linens and decor of Caesars, but opted to use their preferred decor vendor. We used LTeventions for linens, centerpieces, draping, cocktail hr decor, and our bridal party flowers and cake flowers. The extras we had was a photobooth (big hit with guests), lighting company, dj.

Most of our guest stayed at Caesars or across the street at Harrahs. I was always on alert for specials and kept our family and friends alert when flights or rooms were a good deal.
