XP: Need opinions on GM attire

I am having my dress custom made from my mom/grandmother's dress. It will be mostly ivory with white accents. My BMs are wearing black dresses.

My FI wants him and his GMs to wear black suits with white shirts and skinny black ties. He wants to give RayBan wafers as their gifts so they look like the Blues Brothers (We're getting married at the House of Blues).

My FSIL suggested he wear an ivory vest to match me, but that kinda ruins the whole "Blues Brothers" look.

So my question is: willl we look silly if we don't match?

[QUOTE]It won't look silly at all. Your FI and groomsmen don't have to wear vests at all, and even if they do, they don't have to match.

So your groom wants to wear an ivory vest with a white shirt? I personally don't like that. I feel like ivory-on-white can look off. On two different people, or next to each other, it doesn't matter to me as much (ie- ivory dresses w/grooms in white shirts look fine). Of course, if he can try stuff on in advance and it looks good on him, and it will match you, then great.

No one really needs to match anyone. It wouldn't look silly if you and the groom don't "match." I think it would be better if your groom matched the "style" that his GMs are going for.

Personal opinion, of course! You can make anything work.

What do you think of an ecru shirt? That's what we're doing since my dress is ivory.

I would hold up a white shirt to your dress and see if you like it. If it looks fine, then go with that. I personally don't like the vest idea.

Either way, I don't think you'll look silly.
