How to keep the party going LKN style

Hey girls :)
I posted about this a couple months ago, but I still need advice.

Our wedding is a short 6mos away! We are getting married in Cornelius at Jetton Park and have it until 9pm. We didn't know what to do afterwards and since most (if not all) of our guests are going to be from OOT (we are from Ohio) I wanted to show everyone a good time. We had initally planned to have transportation take everyone to and from our hotel from Uptown to the lake and back again, but the cost to do so is a liiiiitle steep to say the least. If we were to stay up in the Lake area, I need suggestions on:

1. Nice hotels in the Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville area.
2. Entertaining places to go after the reception in the same areas. . . where are places you all like to hang out at? We live in Davidson, but have only been to the Rudder and places in Birkdale.

Thoughts? Recommendations? Or should we just stick to the initial plan, bite the bullet and go back Uptown? (I hate the fact of paying to park/cover charges, etc for our guests who have already spent the money to travel down to NC!)

HELP! :)

TBH, if I were a guest and got an informal invite that you guys were going downtown to have fun, but again keeping it informal, I wouldn't expect you to pay for all of that. Yes, transportation would be nice, seeing as drinking would probably be involved, but I wouldn't expect you to take care of cover charges or parking if I chose to go.

but that's just me. Wish I could help more, but I'm not too familiar with that area. Sorry. Good luck though!

There's a Homewood Suites right there off exit 30 in those newer shops in Davidson.  I've never stayed at that one, but the other Homewood Suites locations I've stayed in have been really nice and clean.

If you want to stay around the lake, there's a great martini bar in Cornelius called On the Roxx.  The Galway Hooker (also in Cornelius) is a great bar scene and they sometimes have comedy shows upstairs there.  Personally, I love the Rudder and hanging out on the patio there during the summer.

I don't know how many people you're thinking of including in the post wedding celebration, but if you did want to go Uptown, have you looked at Raging Uptown Party Bus rentals?  A friend of mine got one for his birthday a few years ago and I don't think it was too expensive, we all rode uptown on it and went out, then it brought us all back to Huntersville.  Was a great time, nobody had to drive and we didn't have to worry about parking.

i agree with PP, I have been to plenty of "after parties" orchestrated by the bride and groom, but have always paid for anything associated with attending. I look at it as a way to spend more time with bride/groom!

that being said, I work in Davidson but live in Charlotte, so am not much help on bar scene. there are some cool places in Birkdale, and if you booked a hotel on that exit, it shouldn't be a far cab ride...you could probably negotiate a hotel shuttle as well. I stayed in the Marriott Courtyard in December after our company holiday party, and it was good.

There is a nice Holiday Inn Express right behind Birkdale which would mean short cab rides from Galway Hooker, On the Roxx, and anyplace in Birkdale.  The Homewood Suites in Davidson is also very very nice and I have stayed there many times.  Birkdale and the Rudder are pretty good party places for the LKN area, but if you're looking for a bigger crowd and lots of options, Uptown is your way to go! Ragin' Upton bus rentals are about 600-700 for a coach bus that will seat 50-60 people and would probably be your cheapest option to and from uptown.
