Room Blocks and room comps

Hey there ladies first of all i just want to say I don't know if I could have planned this wedding without you guys!!  There are so many things (ideas) that have inspired me I already think out the box but I'm still learning a thing or two congrats on your weddings and engagements!!  However my question is did any of you guys get room deals on your own stay for having your guest stay at a particular hotel or have you seen sweet deals at certain hotels??? Thanks so much

Don't expect too much in the way of room discounts unless your wedding is HUGE.  Most hotels don't offer discounts until you get to the 20-room range.  However, some venues will give you a small discount if you are having the ceremony there, like 10%.  That's what the Flamingo offered to our guests.  Some wedding ceremony packages include room upgrades for the couple only.  For the most part,  you are better off looking on the internet for hotel deals.

I agree with PP, and a lot of times if you want to hold 20 or so rooms, you have to pay for the ones that don't get used. Keep an eye on smartervegas.com. They have great deals on a ton of hotels.

At the Wynn, we blocked 15 rooms.  Our guests get $20 off per night  and we got $100 off per night for our room.

We only had to get 10 rooms booked at the MGM, which we'll end up having 15ish so we could more of a discount on the Terrace Suite for the 2 nights we are staying there.  We got the suite for half off and our guests could take advantage of the promos I've been receiving from smartervegas.com and those rooms still counted towards the room block so it worked out really well for our guests and us!

We got a block of rooms at Mandalay Bay, which is where our wedding is taking place. The discount was awsome and we're not responsible for unbooked rooms, so it worked out really well for us.

Just a quick question to build on this. I'm having my ceremony at the Paris Casino. I know my guests can get 10% off their room. But, would I be able to block off rooms at other hotels even though we're not using them as a wedding venue?

May I ask how you got the room block for MB?  And what are the discounts like?  I'm having my wedding at MB too.  also, did you go through the Wedding coordinator to get the deal?  thanks.
