two ceremonies?!? HELP!

Hi ladies!

I'm in need of some serious advice!!  

I'm just got engaged late Dec to such an amazing man!  We only have one little issue...

He's from England and I'm from Iowa.  We are trying to figure out wedding planning and have gone from destination to Iowa to England and now kicking around two ceremonies.  

I am not super close to my extended family and with all of the traveling around I have done (ex-spa manager on cruise ships) I don't have lots of friends in the area.  However, my parents have moved back to where they met and where my mom is from.  Needless to say when we started to discuss having our wedding over in the UK due to his huge family and circle of friends (family is all from the same place as grandparents and so on...)my mom got very upset and is feeling very left out-she has bought my dress and wants to show a little bit of it off to her friends and family.  

What are some suggestions?  Should we have two ceremonies to please everyone?  My FI has elderly grandparents that I do not have, so I know they would love to see him get married...

Please HELP!!!!  This has made me not even want to plan anything.

My uncle is from Washington and my aunt is from the UK. They did they wedding in the UK (not sure how that decision was made) and then did a reception back in the states.

My parents also did something similar for their wedding. The wedding was in Virginia (Where my mom is from) and then they had a reception on the east coast.

It sounds to me like you should get married in England because it will be the most convenient for the most guests. I don't think 2 ceremonies is ever a good idea. You could possibly play a video of the ceremony at a reception in the states though.

I had a teacher who married someone from the UK...They got married in Hawaii, that way both sides would have to travel and they weren't playing "favorites" with one side.

My opinion would be to definitely do the ceremony in the U.K. and fly everyone important over. Do one ceremony, doing two cheapens it, but do a fancy party - in your dress - for the people in your area to celebrate your nuptials. You can have pictures available for people to see from the original ceremony
