Rehearsal Dinner Location for Upper Cape?

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for rehearsal dinner venues in the Upper Cape.  So far we've come up with the following possibilities:

Mezza Luna
The Flying Bridge
Aqua Grille
British Beer Company
Lobster Trap

Rehearsal is in Pocasset (St. John's).

If anyone has experience with any of these places, or can suggest additional ones, I'd be grateful!  I've eaten at all of them, but these were always just small tables.  I specifically would like to know what you think about their abilities to host a party of around 30-40 people.

TIA!

I suggest the Belfry Inn in Sandwich. The food is awesome. I love the place so much and it sets a nice tone since it is an old church. It would be nice for dinner and if people want to go out later..then hit the BBC for music and a  final drink.                   good luck

We actually just We booked our rehearsal dinner at the flying bridge. They seemed to be pretty reasonably priced. We looked in the  Casino Wharf FX, but they wanted a $2000, room charge and then $75.00 a head! Way to much for a rehearsal! The bridge ranges from $35-$60  head with no room charge! The BBC is very casual, but that may be what you want. I have heard mixed reviews about the food, but they have great beer! I hope that helps!

I too just booked the flying bridge at no room fee (I am not sure if this was due to the fact that I am having my wedding at the Coonamessett Inn) and a choice of menu options at afforadble prices.  They just re-did the entire place and it looks great.

Cool, thanks for the input!  I do love the Flying Bridge!  And I agree that the BBC is pretty laid back, though it's one of my favorite places.  My one concern there is that if our dinner is on Friday night, we'd be drowned out by the band (though I guess they don't start til after 9).

I think, unfortunately, the Belfry Inne couldn't accommodate a group our size, but that's just what I gather from the website.  Probably worth a call if my FFIL is interested in it.

    Thanks again!

We also booked the Flying Bridge for my son's Rehearsal Dinner, and the place and location is beautiful.  One of the main reasons we booked there also is that they told us the room was free because his wedding is at the Coonamessett - hmmm................maybe this offer is given to everyone?

I've never been to a rehearsal dinner at any of these places but I can comment on atmosphere and food

Mezza Luna - Just redone and has REALLY good Italian food
The Flying Bridge - Haven't been since they redid the place but went once before and hated it - I thought the food was so overpriced and the place was so dingy.  My wedding is at the Coonamessett so I'm going to check out the bridge when I'm in town next weekend
Aqua Grille - really not a fan of atmosphere or food
British Beer Company - LOVE LOVE LOVE the BBC and considering it for mine.  I'm partial to the Falmouth location but they're all great and I love the food
Lobster Trap - this place is a staple in my family.  We go there constantly in the summer since my mom lives less than a mile away - their food is yum and the owner/head chef is SUCH a nice guy - I'm also considering doing my rehearsal here - it's so laid back and fun it would be so different from the Coonamessett for me.

I think it really depends on what you're going for - especially atmosphere wise.

    Other reccomendations to consider:

The Beachmoore Inn - Buzzards Bay
    The Nimrod - Falmouth
Peking Palace - really nice Chinese food place in Falmouth with private rooms - something different

If you want to go to Woods Hole the Landfall is really nice - something more casual could be Shuckers (I used to work there) or the Captain Kid

Good luck - let us know what you decide on!!!

I worked at the Lobster Trap  for a couple of summers, but I only remember having 1 specific wedding type party there.  Since I have worked there though, they have re-done the deck (added the bar, got nicer tables), and I know that Dave (the owner/chef) has started doing more catering, so he is willing to do special menus on requesst (as far as I know). As you know if you've ever eaten there, the deck can get quite loud when it's full, so keep that in mind.

I think there is something special about the deck at the Lobster Trap, and if you want to have a casual rehearsal dinner, then I would say that would be the place to go.

Thanks everyone for these great suggestions and insights... I'll definitely pass on the good words (FFIL is hosting, but my mom is helping to scout out places; I just thought I'd get some feedback from some Knotties as well)!

Marjorie, I don't know if you were working at the Lobster Trap as far back as 2005, but my mom got remarried that September and had her rehearsal dinner there, maybe that was the crowd you remembered?  We had an awesome time there.  My only issue for my wedding is that it will be late April (4/24, rehearsal on 4/23), and I'm a little concerned that it will be too cold at the Trap.  I know they've added heat lamps; have they done anything else?

Well, I'll let you know what we decide.  Lots to choose from!  Thanks again!

You could try Hemisphere in Sandwich. It's a relaxed atmosphere but they have an option to do a clam bake/ bbq right on the beach which could be a lot of fun! I looked into it for myself and the prices were a little high for a burgers and dogs, but you should definitely check it out!
