My Dress Doesn't Fit :(

My dress really really doesn't fit! From the time I bought it to now, I've developed hypothyroid which has caused me to gain over 50lbs in the past 6-8 months. My dress is way too small. I can't even get the zippers to touch! Cry

So basically I need to lose 50 pounds in about 4 months and I really don't think I can do it. I started dieting today but I have a really hard time losing weight due to hypothyroid.

My thoughts are to put it on consignment at a dress shop in Raleigh and buy a new one or try to beg and plead with David's Bridal to let me exchange it for the right size. What do you think??

If you LOVEEE the dress. . .I'd talk with Davids. Otherwise, the other option would be your best. If you think you can get diet and exercise in enough to lose the weight, go for it.

I use Alli, and its awesome :) It has side affects, but as long as you eat the foods youre supposed to its a great help.

But IMO, I'd talk with David's first.   Also, what about putting in a corset back??

    Oh no! I'm so sorry!!

Is a doctor following you about it? Are you on Synthroid? I'd start there to see if there are medical ways to help fix the problem. Good luck!

David's let me exchange my dress - just be honest with them. It's worth a try!

    Sorry to hear that :(

Losing 50 lbs in 4 months is both unrealistic and not healthy. I know in the last couple of months leading up to the wedding, I was so wrapped up in so many stressful things, I didnt lose the weight I wanted to. Not saying you cant lose some weight, but 50 lbs, no way. Nor should you, it's safe to lose about 2 lbs per week (8 lbs per month).

I would just try some of the local David's Bridal and beg them to let you exchange the dress. If they dont, buy a new one and worry about selling the other one later, dont let it bog you down!

Thanks ladies! I have started medicine and my doctor has been following me. My dress has a corset back but it zips under the corset. This is the first time I've tried it on since it came in. I think I'm going to start with trying to exchange it and if it doesn't work then I'll buy another and sell this one!

I'm so sorry you have to go through this- I have a couple friends with thyroid conditions and it is so frustrating. Definitely talk to David's, if you get the right consultant it'll be fine. You can always attempt to see your dress here, craigslist, etc. as well.

Good luck and vibes! Know that whatever happens you'll be a beautiful bride. :)

I had a friend that gained a little and had to exchange her dress at David's. They let her as long as she got the same dress, so I would give it a shot!

I hope it works out for you.

aaawwww, sorry to hear that! i agree with katherine though, don't try to lose that much in that short period of time, its not healthy. i am trying to lose some much needed weight as well and it isnt easy so maybe we can hook up on a support system :)  i gained mine from medication as well so i know how you feel. i have been tracking everything on sparkpeople.com, which is very helpful.

hopefully david's will be understanding and exchange it, if not, please don't stress over it. just sell that one and get another one just like it in the right size!

    hang in there Smile

I would definitely try to talk to David's to see what ur options are but if they will not allow you to exchange the dress, please email me.  I'd like to share some information regarding an undergarment that helped me appear 2 dress sizes smaller than I am.  Not only is it comfortable, it is affordable.  I still wear mine now and I LOVE it! My address is ChildofGod27 at hotmail.  Good luck!
