What is your first dance song?

FI and I are still trying to make a decision about our first dance song.  We have a short list (which keeps getting longer and longer, not sure if we can still call it a short list).  We need suggestions.

So now that brings us to the question of the evening:

What is your first dance song, and how/why did you choose that?

It's almost definitely going to be 'Crush' by Dave Matthews band. We were in the car one day a few weeks before getting engaged and it came on, and I started thinking, this would be a great first dance song, and he turned to me and said, "This could be our first dance at our wedding". I love the words so much, I'm just worried it's kind of hard to dance to.

Karen's MOH - love love love Crush!  Such a beautiful song, but I might be a bit biased - DH and I are huuuuge DMB fans. ;)

There was really no question that we would dance to a DMB song.  We ended up picking "Steady As We Go" - we loved the lyrics and it was the perfect tempo for a slow dance.

We are still looking for new ideas but it is between "When we dance" by Sting and "Just like Heaven" by Katie Melua (sp?) Both songs are slow enough to dance to and have great lyrics.  GL!

I am a country music girl so this has created a little drama between me and my FI, because it is not his favorite.  I think we are dancing to , My Best Friend by Tim Macgraw, or Sunshine by Steve Azar.

My fiancee and I are dancing to "18th Floor Balcony" by Blue October. It's not super well known, but they are my favorite band and it pretty much sums up our entire "early relationship" period. We would sit around all night, every night, doing basically nothing but talking and trying to stay awake.

We danced to "Everything" by Michael Buble - our band even learned it for us!  DH had used the song as the audio background to a photo slideshow he made for me once...  and it always sort of "stuck."

Loving Wings by Dave Matthews Band.  My fiance is my angel :-)  He came into my life right after my Dad passed away...

I always dreamed of "love song" by 311...my fav all time band, but we chose "yellow" by coldplay. That entire album has specific meaning to us. On our 3rd date we took a ride to the cape cod national seashoe and then just cruised rte 28 all around the cape listening to the album front to back...a few times. And I love stars....so the lyrics are sentimental too.

We're learning the foxtrot to dance to "All of Me" - the Billie Holiday version. This has always been one of  FI's favorite Billie songs. I've loved this song since that silly Steve Martin/Lily Tomlin movie came out in middle school. So we independently came to love this song and it just made sense.

We danced to "This Magic Moment" by the Drifters. One of the very first movies we ever watched together was The Sandlot. The song plays in the movie when the kid kisses the lifegaurd. I was working as a lifeguard that summer after we met so it was always a big joke between us that song should play when we kiss. The lyrics fit us very well and it has just always been our song. Plus, we love oldies :)

We're dancing to "I love every little thing about you" by Stevie Wonder. My fiance unilaterally made the decision that this was "our song" about 2 months after we started dating :)

We're going the Sinatra route, but wanted something that none of our friends had used.  So we're going with "All My Tomorrows".

Why?  I wanted to use a song that we would have a fighting chance of hearing, randomly, somewhere ... even if its in an elevator, or flipping radio stations.  Im a sucker for the old standards.  FI and I have very different tastes in music, and we could agree on Ol Blue Eyes :)

My FI and I are torn between "Brighter Than Sunshine" by Aqualung and "Bless The Broken Road" by Rascal Flats.

The first has always been our song, but this past summer we heard "Bless The Broken Road" and we both thought it was very much a song about us and would be nice to dance to.

always thought i wanted to dance to ribbon in the sky or a luther song - but now, i'm thinking def. something upbeat!   i also always loved "never too much" by luther!  (can't do this b/c family already did it) but i'm debating on going the non-traditional route and doing a neyo song.  neyo was playing at the very moment when i realized how much my fi meant to me...yadda yadda.  ;)

I love Feels Like Home!  I haven't heard the Bonnie Raitt version, but Chantal Kreviazuk recorded that song for the Dawson's Creek soundtrack (I know....) and its absolutely beautiful!

We're dancing to "I'm Yours (casa nova remix)" by Jason Mraz. It's a much slower version that we both LOVE!

"Still in love with you" Brian Mc Knight, my favorite artist. He has a new CD with a great song on it too.

Ours was "Ice Cream" by Sarah McLachlan.  DH proposed to me by carving "Will you marry me?" in a tub of ice cream and stuck my e-ring in there too.  And we love Sarah McLachlan so it fit us perfectly.
