Going Mental looking for a venue

So I live in the upper cape/south shore (Wareham). My parents are paying for the wedding and really want it on the cape or in the Plymouth area for planning purposes and money reasons. They have one requirement that it be at some place that has lodging since majority of our guests are coming in from out of state. We love Dan'l Webster in Sandwich but my fiance hates it and feels it's too cramped. We are inviting 85 guests and predict about 75 will show. So we don't need a huge ballroom. Also we don't want a "cape cod theme" wedding or a beach wedding, but the option for the rehearsal dinner to be a beach bonfire is cool. Can anyone recommend something along these lines for us?? I feel like I'm tearing out my hair. Also we are firm on our date for Oct 9, 2011. Any help or suggestions would be God send. Thanks!

Whops, forgot to add, we plan on having the cermony (not on the beach) at the same location as the reception.

You just described Ocean Edge.  they have several rooms that offer several size weddings.  they do bonfires on the beach and have on-site accomodations in condos or an on-site hotel.

I second Ocean Edge.  They have everything you are looking for and they dont charge a room rental fee like a lot of other places.  I believe their pp rates range from $109 and up.

I second Sea Pines... They have a cute garden space behind the main house for a ceremony, and you definitely don't have to do a Cape themed wedding to make it work there.  Donna is great to work with.  We're having our wedding there on Oct 9.  There is lodging  on site, and other places close by for people to stay.

Thanks knotties!! This is perfect. We actually toured Ocean Edge and the two rooms options were not our style. I welcome more information and greatly appreciate the suggestions!!

Oh I'd love more information on Sea Pines Inn! I just looked it up and it's beautiful. Any reviews on past or upcoming weddings???

Try Bourne Farm in Falmouth, or Heritage Museum and Garden in Sandwich!! I believe both are pretty casual but you would need to rent a tent etc and hire a caterer!! HTH

Also try beach breeze inn!! The previous two I mentioned do not have lodging

Just so you know, please don't let lodging limit your search. It is very easy to hire a trolley or limo company to shuttle your guests reasonable distance between the church/reception and the hotel.

IHave you looked into the Captain Linnell House in Orleans?  It is offering a lot of what you are looking for and you can defnitely avoid beach theme there, that's where my recpetion is and I am not doing a lot of beach items.  You can have your wedding in the back where they have very nice gardens.  We are having our rehearsal at Borsari Art Gallery in Dennis, they also do weddings on premises.  Maybe something else for you to consider.   Good luck!

I had my first wedding there. The staff was wonderful, the venue was beautiful, and everyone loved it. Too bad myI wasted it on my ex.

I am getting married at the Dennis Inn in a few weeks. They only have three guest rooms, but there is another inn right next door, plus a bunch more within two miles. You have full use of the facility all weekend.

Cape Codder Resort in Hyannis. You do not have to have a Cape Cod theme wedding. They have 3 different rooms and capacities. Tons of lodging in the Cape Codder and in the immediate surrounding area. The pp rate is as low as $75 with a package and $32 without a package. Great Package deals and have an amazing wedding coordinator. The could definitely accomodate the ceremony and the reception :)

Thanks Megd, we decided to go with their sister company Dan'l Webster, who has a very similar package and a more historical feel for our wedding!!
