Mini-moon suggestions-Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard

We are getting married in Falmouth in October, but not going on our honeymoon until Nov., so we've been planning to stay out on the Cape/Islands for an extra 2 days or so.

Any recommendations for cute, nice inns, B&Bs, hotels, on MV or Nantucket? We are basically just looking to kick back and be excited about being married and catch up on the sleep I know I'll miss leading up to the big day. Also, pros/cons for MV vs Nantucket? I've never actually been to either of them.

Thanks!

    Nantucket $$$$$ vs   MV = $$$

Martha's Vineyard has lots and lots of cute B & B's and hotels right on the water.
Harborview being one of them. I live on the cape and we take our boat over to the Vineyard all the time - go onto   www.mvy.com and click on "where to stay" on the left side of your screen.  there are many many to choose from and they all have websites!    good luck !!

Both are nice, but I absolutely adore Nantucket!  Great restaurants, fun shopping and stunning scenery.  Highly recommend!  I"m better with restaurants, but I have stayed at the Ship's Inn and it was lovely.  Walking distance to town/ferry and they serve a wonderful breakfast in the morning.

I am voting for Nantucket. I just typed out a bunch of info for you but i got a page error. Nantucket is more serene, peaceful, and MV is more bustling with tourists. After labor day both will be more chill. ACK has some festivals but not sure what in Oct. Sconset is a beautiful often overlooked place to visit.

I'm probably a bit biased, but I absolutely LOVE Nantucket.  I've been going there for many years and just love everything about it.  As PP mentioned, it can be a bit more pricey than MV, but in October you may be able to find some pretty good deals.  The Wharf Cottages are totally adorable and are located right in town along the boat basin - you can't beat the location.  As far as B&B's go, I've stayed at Seven Sea Street a few times and I remember it being really nice and cosy (it's been a few years though, so not sure if anything has changed).  I could go on and on, but a lot depends on how close to town you want to be and how much money you're willing to spend.

If you do end up going to Nantucket, you have to have breakfast at the Fog Island Cafe - oh my god sooo good! :)

Nantucket is sounding better and better! We don't care too much about how close to town we are, but we weren't planning on bring the car, although we can. I probably care more about a pretty water view the proximity to town.

    Thanks for the suggestions!

    Nantucket!

If you want a place away from it all, get a place out in S'conset. Walk everwhere!

If the buses are still running (check online - they are called NRTA), you can stay anywhere.  But bringing a car over on the ferry is very $$$.  There are also plenty of cabs in town.

Nantucket! It's my favorite of the two- you can walk most anywhere, and it's so lovely, quaint and romantic!

White Elephant in Nantucket or The Hobb Knob in in MV.

I am biased to MV because there is so much more to do there. There is everything from dirty honkytonk, to awesome shopping to excellent dining. Nantucket is much smaller which is probably completely fine for a short stay.

Hob Knob!!! I sent my parents there for their 35th. Prices were reasonable for such a nice place too!

I just did a minimoon on Nantucket last week and it was great! We stayed at the Easton House, which was within walking distance of the ferry on a cute little cobblestone street. I called shead and asked about midweek specials and we ended up getting a room for $100 per night with an awesome breakfast included. The inn keepers are so nice and friendly. It's an old house so there are no bells and whistles, but we LOVED it!

We also rented bikes and rode all over the island, visited many beaches and saw all of the beautiful landscape. The buses are affordable, too, if you'd rather do that.

We decided not to go unless we could do it on the cheap, so we definitely searched for good deals. Good luck with your search!
