fall 2011 wedding reception ideas

My fiance and I are looking for a wedding reception location on the cape, preferably near the beach.  We are planning to invite 200 guests but have a budget around $20,000.  Any suggestions?  We are looking at the red jacket right now, but reviews say that the hotel rooms are pretty outdated.   Thanks!!!  : )

I was married at The Flying Bridge in Falmouth over 4 years ago, and it was tremendous. My guests are STILL talking about it. The food was amazing and the view could not be beat! It is very reasonable, and was recently remodeled.

You definitely won't be able to do the SeaCrest under $20k, they're prices have gone up tremendously since they started renovating.

We also had that $20k budget, and found it hard to do with the number of guests we had (about the same as yours) with the exception of the Surf & Sand/Skippy's Pier 1 in Yarmouth (and we did a Saturday Evening)

Depending on when you are going it, the Surf & Sand and Skippy's Pier 1 are very reasonably priced.  Not all the rooms are updated, but they are clean and every room has a kitchenette, and they are updated rooms every year.  There's only 34 rooms so you would also have to utilize blue water and riviera or other hotels in the area but everyone who came to our wedding has told us it was the absolute best, most fun wedding they have ever been to.

Surf & Sand is waterfront on the same stretch as Red Jacket, and Skippy's Pier 1 is a restaurant on a marina about 1 mile from there.  It would be a restaurant setting rather than a ballroom setting, so if you are looking for more of the large room with round tables, that wouldn't work...
