help with selecting a venue!

Hello! I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations about venues on the cape. I have been going to Dennis, Ma all my life and want to plan cape cod wedding.

My fiance and I just visited Ocean's Edge and Wychmere Harbor. We really liked both places, for different reasons. We are trying to find the best of both worlds.. and having a difficult time because our guest lists include 300+ people... ah!! I guess that is what you get for having a big family!

Anyway- I would love to hear from anyone who had a wedding at either place! Any suggestions? Also- At ocean's edge did anyone have a tent, outdoor wedding? I love the venue, but am nervous about the tent!

If you know of any other venues on the cape you would recommend that accommodate that many people,  I would love to hear about them too!

I am getting married at Ocean Edge in September.  We chose Bay Pines Pavillion which is the tent down by the pool. I think it fits 250 people so you would have to do either the ballroom or the tent on the front lawn.  I bet the tent on the front lawn would be really nice.  So far they have been VERY good to deal with.

We looked at Ocean's Edge and Whychmere Harbor, Chatham'sbar, along with about 5 other spots.

We chose Willowbend and it was fantastic.  Unless you insist on being on the water, I would choose Willowbend over all others.

I am having my wedding at Ocean Edge in Oct in the ballroom and we invited 209. But I think the max in there is 250 or 300...def no more than 300.

Thanks Jessica! Did you have to rent the tent? We are thinking we would have to do the front lawn tent because of our numbers, but wanted to find out more about the tent. Just nervous about weather... rainy or it being too hot out because we are planning of summer of 2011 wedding.

Did you have to rent all the tables, linens etc as well?

Also where is the Pines Pavilion. Is it closer to the beach than the mansion is?

Hi

The Bay Pines Pavillion is a permanent structured tent so you dont have to rent it.  It is right next to the pool (behind the mansion) and closer to the beach then the tent on the front lawn.  Since BPP is permanent, you do need to rent tables, linens etc.  The only thing I plan to rent are chair covers.  I have found that the chairs at Ocean Edge are nice but dark mahogoney (sp) and dont go well at all.  BBP is a short two minute walk down the driveway to the beach.  I am not sure what the cost is to rent the tent/tables, etc for the front lawn.  I bet you could call OE and get an idea. I have dealt with Antonella and she is SOOO nice and helpful.
