Lighthouse inn or similar?

Hi - we just started planning, and we're looking for something oceanfront anywhere in Mass.  The Lighthouse Inn looks nice on line, but I haven't been able to find any reviews.  Does anyone have experience with it?  Are there any similar places I should look at?  We'll probably have about 150 guests, and I don't want to spend much more than the Lighthouse Inn prices.

Thanks so much everyone!

The one thing we didn't like about Lighthouse was it is a little worn inside and needs a refurb.

I think they also had a lot of charges tacked on, like a fee for the dance floor. Once they all added up, it wasn;t too cheap.

Ditto everything Allisong mentioned - that being said you can't get more picturesque for waterfront views. Not surprisingly the Cape has a lack of budget friendly oceanfront venues - Ocean Edge, Wequassett, CBI are all gorgeous but not for tight budgets with 150 guests.  I've heard nice things about the Sea View in Dennis - it's across the street from the beach and still has water views.  Not sure about venues close to the bridge/Falmouth area but I'm sure someone will pipe up!

Welcome by the way!  Have you set a date or time of year at least?

Needs a coat of light colored paint and they should knocck down that doorway area to the dance floor area. Open it up to one big room. It's too bad because it couldn't be located on a more perfect vieew of the ocean.

I am getting married at the LHI on 9/4/11. I love it! It is very laid back cape cod, but that is exactly what we want! I worked there for 3 summers while i was in college so its a very special place. However, we are having a day wedding and the views are amazing. they have also been great with any questions and plans! feel free to ask anymore questions! best of luck!

Thanks for the welcome!  We're hoping for late summer/early fall of this year if we find a venue we like with availability.  We think we want oceanfront anywhere in MA, but we're flexible.

I did look at the Seaview in Dennis. Honestly it was much more of a riverview with a view of the ocean across the street. That said it was pretty and the coordinator was really nice. More modern feeling than LHI is. You might want to just start calling places. If you are looking for late summer/early fall, a lot of places will be booked for Saturdays-- I think the Lighthouse Inn was mostly booked when I contacted them in Dec. But if you are flexible and would consider a Friday or Sunday you will have a lot more options, I'd think.

Also, the Poppanessett Inn in Mashpee is right on the beach, it is a permanent tented structure I think. You can't get more ocean view than that.

I would also look into the flying bridge in Falmouth, and Falmouth Yacht club.

I would look into the Wequassett.  They have a lot of dates still available for this summer and might be more flexible with price.  It's definitely worth a call.

The Light House Inn is quaint but needs a little updating and all dancing had to be moved down to the basement where there is no ocean view.

I was supposed to get married on 8/14/10 at the Seaview.  It's clean and updated with a very accommodating coordinator.  Due to a groom with cold feet, (wahhhhh) I would be willing to give you a $500 credit towards your deposit if you would take the date of 8/14/10.    Please let me know your thoughts and good luck with your planning!

I am getting married at lighthouse Inn 06/26/10. We both liked it for the views and because it has a laid back atmosphere which is what we wanted. Because we are doing a june(which they consider spring wedding) they do everything on the first floor, no basement like summer weddings. The people there have been really nice to work with as well. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I second pemily41. The Lighthouse Inn has been perfect working with me, especially now that I live in Texas. Because the wedding is going to be in the "off" season - May 22 - there are none of those extra fees for dance floors... And because I'm doing it on a Sunday, there's only a 50 guest minimum and you get 10% off the food costs. How can you beat that and still get a water view? I describe the Lighthouse as quintessential Cape Cod charm-- This is coming from a Cape Cod native who can't afford the way over-the-top fancy CBI or Wequassett. That's not MY Cape Cod. I hope this helps!
