When do we send out STDs?

Hey guys,

Since you are all getting married in Feb, too, I thought you would be the best people to ask.  When should we plan on sending out save-the-dates?

I am getting married Feb 18, 2012, which is the Saturday of President's Weekend, so I think it may be necessary to send my STDs earlier since it is a holiday weekend.

Thoughts?

I am sending out STDs in June/July. I have no idea if that's the right time to do it.

I've read that you should send out STD 6 months before (or 8 months before if a destination wedding).  With that being said, I'm sending mine out earlier than that.. probably end of June. HTH!

I ordered mine last night , they will go out last week of May/1st week of June because a lot of our list is out of state and we want them to have the choice to book cheaper travel if need be.

I just sent out my STDs on Tuesday.. Everyone of my guests will be coming in from out of town so we wanted to give them plenty of time to make arrangements to be there!! Otherwise, I'd say 6 months in advance is probably fine..!

Anytime under a year is acceptable... that way no confusion. Our wedding is also Feb 18th (holiday weekend, and spring break in our town for schools), and half our guests are from out of town. So we sent out our save the dates in March. The more notice the better. Nothing negative from TOO much notice.

Is it really necessary to send them if none of your guests are from out of town? Just curious

Our wedding is the same day!!  I'm a teacher so that holiday weekend works out GREAT w/ my schedule :)  We are sending out save the dates by the end of june... b/c yes I too wanted to give plenty of notice since it is a holiday weekend and lots of my friends are teachers so i didnt want them making other plans! ;)
