NWR: Surprise for the Fi (Day Trip) help

Hello,My Fi has always wanted to do a wine tasting so I bought us tickets for one in Kentwood. We don't really have the extra money for a hotel so we'll be making it a day trip (from Detroit). Are there any good places to go/see in GR or Lansing that are free/low cost? Where would be a good place to have a light dinner (low/average cost)?Thanks!

When is the tasting, right now in downtown GR there is Art Prize, a huge art exhibit all for free. There are different venues around downtown and it looks pretty cool. Most places are offering a lot of dinner and drink specials during art prize. For a light dinner, I would suggest doing a tapas or two at San Chez, or Ottawa Tavern is great for lower cost dining.
