Reception Ideas in Kalamazoo

I just got engaged last weekend and we really want to get married this July/August. I am looking to get married in either Kalamazoo or Elkhart/South Bend area. I am completely lost as to where to look and haven't had a lot of success googling places online. Does anyone have any ideas? Please help!!! Katie

Hi Katie. Congrats on getting engaged!! I am also fro "the zoo", and have some contacts down near South Bend. What is it you are looking for? Whats your budget? There are a ton of options! The best places to start is with the Kalamazoo and Portage bridal associations!

Thanks so much for the response. I honestly don't know what I am looking for or my budget. I would like to stay around 12,000. I am currently coaching volleyball and am a teacher and don't have a lot of time to look at places and the places I have checked are full for next summer. Do you have any ideas in Kalamazoo? I have had a difficult time finding places that are in my price range. What are the Kalamazoo/Portage associations? Sorry, I am clueless......

Katie,I got married in Paw Paw. I used to have a list of of reception areas if you want to email I will see if I still have it. Also if you need help with vendors in that area let me know. We also had some great vendors in the GR area that traveled down for no extra price. Plus a friend of mine got married in K-zoo this August. You can email me at geeksteph@gmail.com if you are interested.~Stephanie

Katie - They are the kalamazoo bridal association dot com and portage bridal dot com In kzoo there is Holday Inn West, The Fountains, the Kalamzoo Nature Center, Nikos Landing, Thornapple Creek (had our class reunion there an it was very nice). If you dont mind going outside of Kzoo, there is the Silo up in Allegan - managers name is Beth Majdan - tell her Autumns cousin sent you there. Something between Kzoo and S Bend is the Lawton Community Center - absolutley wonderful place! its an old winery that has been restore and is ran by the Kiwanis I think - absoltely wonderful. My best friend used to decorate weddings with her MIL, and she said that if she got to do her wedding over again, she would do it there (or Yarrow which is way too much imo). If its a smaller wedding, henderson Castle does weddings, so does another B&B that is almost downtown.Feel free to shoot me an  email. i have an arsenal of info on my PC - we work in Kzoo, live near Hastings and our wedding is in Middleville, and using vendor from both Kzoo and GR, so I have a ton! Plus a ton of stuff NOT on here that i picked up at bridal shows!chestr22@yahoo.comGood luck!

Thanks for all the good ideas. We are looking for a place in Kalamazoo, South Bend/Elkhart, or around Lake Michigan. We would like to find a place where you can either bring in your own food or alcohol vendor. I would like to stay around 7-8000 in food and alcohol. If you have any ideas please feel free to email me!!! klholt@hotmail.com
