Online RSVP or Mail Back RSVP Cards

Does anyone have any experience with doing online RSVPs through the Knot's wedding website?  My fiance and I are debating whether to use mail back RSVP cards (requiring another stamp to go on the envelope that goes with that and adding weight and therefore postage to the entire invitation) or using the RSVP tool on our wedding website.  Is it tacky to do online RSVPs?  I wouldn't consider our wedding informal or small (nearly 200 ppl invited, expecting 150 to RSVP as yes).  We are also planning to have a sit-down dinner, so guests will need to select their entree.  I'm pretty traditional with ettiquette, which I think is kind of a big deal here in the South, such as hand-addressing the recipients' names and addresses on the invitations.  If anyone does have experience with online RSVPs, were any guests that are relatively traditional (older family members, etc.) offended by not having a card to send back or having to use the online tool?  Is there anyway around requiring the guests to put their email addresses in there?  I played with it a little bit and it required me to put my email address in there to RSVP for myself.  Thanks for any help and advice y'all have!

Re: Online RSVP or Mail Back RSVP Cards

  • Honestly, IF you're going to do online RSVP's, I would highly suggest finding another wedding website to use for it as TK is notorious for crashing and deleting random things and RSVPs are something you don't want to lose track of.

Personally, I'd stick with the mail-in RSVPs. That way, you dont have to worry about those who aren't internet savvy or may not have the internet trying to scramble to get in touch with you. Depending on what kind of RSVP you send out, postage isn't too much. For example, we sent out postcard RSVP cards and I think postage was like 28 cents or something close to that? It also didn't add much bulk since it was just a postcard
