Bridal Mart?

Hi Ladies,

My name is April, I actually live in the DC area! Well long story short my wedding is 10/23/10 and I still haven't found THE dress, so I'm kinda starting to freak out a little!! I'm going to be visitng family in Wilson, NC in a few weeks so I was also going to plan a trip to bridal mart. Has anyone brought their gown from there? Is it similar to DB? Any info you can give me about the store and your experience will be helpful!

TIA
April

My first experience at Bridal Mart wasn't that great, but I went on a weekend and it was packed. I didn't end up getting my dress from them, but I did find my dress there. They only had a sample of my dress in a size 4, so I couldn't try it on there, so that's why I ended up going to another store, and ended up buying it from them.

We did get our BM Dresses from Bridal Mart though and they were very helpful.

They do also have for sale gowns that don't need to be ordered, you just buy off the rack, so that may be good for you too since it's so close to the wedding. I think Bridal Mart told me it took 4 months for their dresses to come in when ordered, but the dress store I got mine from has it coming in within 3 months.

Also, if you find a dress you love, and they do have to order it, tell them you'll call  back and place the order. Bridal Mart does price matching, so if you can find that dress at another store for cheaper, you can get them to give it to you at that price.

Pearls Place had my dress and our BM dresses for alot cheaper than anywhere around here... and the dress store I got my dress from matched them and Bridal Mart matched the price for the BM dresses as well.

I ordered BM dresses from there, and have gone wth friends when they tried on wedding dresses.  I definetely suggest not going on the weekends if possible -- it is empty during the week days, and you will get a lot more help.  The sales people are too busy running around on the weekends to be very helpful.

I went to Bridal Mart for BM dresses and had a good experience. We went on a Friday morning and it was empty.

But since you live in DC (I do to), I would recommend where I got my dress from. I  went to Renaissance Bridal Store in downtown York, PA (about a 1.5hrs away from DC). They were awesome to work with!
    Here is the store info:
315 E Market St. York, PA

    Good Luck!

I loved Bridal Mart.  I went on a weekday in the evening and it was totally empty.  TONS of dresses and a nice mix of modern & traditional dresses.

I live in MD, I got my dress in NC and I also visited Bridal Mart because my mother liked that store and my sister got her dress there, I don't like the quality of their stuff as much plus I knew what designer I liked http://www.maggiesottero.com/ (they don't carry that brand)

Her dress can run up to ~2k I think but mine was less than 800.

if you are looking for a deal most stores will price match, but you won't find the same dresses at all stores. but if they carry the designer they can prob order it.

I got my dress in Cary at Bridal Gallery at Mc Gregor Village I wouldn't suggest them either, my mother was supposed to come up and come to the store I liked in Columbia, MD http://www.columbiabridalboutique.com/,

I loved going to their shop and they had a decent selection, my coworker got her dress from them as well. They were nice and very helpful.

I agree with pp---I really didn't think the quality was as nice as some of the other bridal stores I went to.  I didn't have such a great experience there either, but many, many people that I talked to had a wonderful one there.  So, I'm thinking that it is just like anywhere else....there is always one person to spoil the whole bunch...and I just happened to have that salesperson helping me that day.  But, I would give them a second chance if I had not found my dress at DB.  They do have a large selection though.  GL!

I think I'm a little late joining in, but I did want to say I actually did something similar - I'm from NC (where my family still is) but am currently living in FL.  I went to Bridal Mart on a visit to the family (since my sister got her dress there) and I found a dress I LOVE and my bridesmaids dresses, all in one visit.  They have such a large selection and let you experiment - nothing pushy.  However, I was completely open and didn't have my heart set on anything, so that could have helped my good experience.  I ended up getting a dress from there that was about $500 less than retail (or more), so I suggest trying it out - perhaps you can find a dress that normally would be out of your price range, but you can get it there.  Good luck!
