Rustic/Country Reception venues Kzoo area

I'm back!! I asked my sister what she's working on first, and it seems that she's focused on a reception venue in the Kzoo area.  They're talking casual country elegance at the moment, but I know things could change!

Any ideas?

I think she's got a TOTAL $10K budget to work with, so keep that in mind.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Blue Dress Barn (http://www.bluedressbarn.com/) and think it is great for people on a budget.

    Isnt Post up near Holland?

Gilmore Car Museum is a little bit more rustic, even though they do not allow you to take the cars out of the barns anymore. My wedding and reception are in Middleville at Bowens Mills, half way between GR an Kzoo - very rustic compared tosome of the others. Depending on how many people you have, Thronapple Creek could be an option, their clubhouse is basically a log cabin. A little more expensive is The Silo in Allegan, but still nice - their coordinator is Beth, related to me (kinda) through marriage. There are more, but trying to remember what all there is.
my budget is about the same, so feel free to check out my bio and have some idea what I'm working with!

Those are all too far away, but I wish they weren't.  Some of them are awesome!  She lives in the Richland area and has two young kids, so she's hoping to stay closer to home.  She's looking into a barn on Cressey Road and Eesley Mill in Plainwell.  She would prefer a place that doesn't make you use one specific caterer.

Check out Eesley Mill in Plainwell.  I am also from Richland, and when I was looking for a reception site, it was one of the ones that I considered.  It has a very rustic feel, and they allow you to bring in caterer.  When we stopped in to look at it there was an event going on that evening that was all set up.  It was beautiful!  They even have some decorations that you can rent if you are interested.  They were very helpful and answered a bunch of questions and seemed pretty organized.  It also was not very expensive compared to some of the other options in the area, it would definitely fit the 10k budget!

    Good Luck!

Lots of good suggestions! My first thoughts were Blue Dress Barn or Mill Creek Barn (same owner, already mentioned)
Lawton Community Center is also very nice!

There's also some sort of Herb Farm or something near Battle Creek?

nothing is closer to Richland then Gilmore Car museum - just north of Gull Lake. You can bring in another caterer too. at Easley you have to use their caterer.
  • I have heard of the cressey road barn too but I cannot find any information on it. Does anyone know the phone number or website?
