Bridal Shower invites

I need your advice...my soon to be mother-in-law lives out of town, along with some of my fiance aunts...do I send them a bridal shower invite even though I know they will not be able to make it. I don't want it to seem that I am simply asking for a gift, but I don't want to not include them either...HELP

I would send them an invitation if you and FI are close to them.  My MIL and one of my BM's live in Maine, and our shower was in GR - but I still sent them an invite.  Some of the other aunts that we weren't extremely close to, however, we did not.
