Let them eat cake!

Hi Ladies,

I am looking for a place to purchase our cake in Greensboro.  I am not a huge fan of Maxie B's or Delicious.  I had originally chosen Ganache Bakery but they said they are currently not taking orders but will  be soon.  I am afraid they are going out of business.

Do you all have any suggestions?

Thanks!
Carrie

My brother's girlfriend (who is actually making my cake) was just at Ganache as a cake decorator.  I don't think they are going out of business.   I do know they had a handful of openings that needed to be filled.  Maybe they are trying to re-staff before taking orders?

I'm using A Piece of Cake...it's in Reidsville, but that is only about 30 minutes from Greensboro.  She is bringing our cake to the beach, so I'm sure she would deliver one to Greensboro! It's good :)

We got our cake from Edible Artistry in HP.  The cake was delicious and looked exactly like the picture I sent her  BUT the owner has a pretty lousy business sense and is disorganized, so you really have to be someone who keeps up with details and is organized yourself to deal with her.  I had to keep resending her her own emails to remind her of things she said, and I rewrote portions of her contract which she had no problems with, but other than that, everything went fine.  Mary (Pirategal03) had a lot more trouble with her than I did, for the same sort of issues.

/but her cake was amazing, moist, and yummy, she was on time, and the price was pretty good.

Isn't it? I didn't grow up there, but my fiance did.  His neighbor is the owner :) She made us about 14 flavors to test and it was SO hard to choose! They were all fantastic!

The best I can say about it is that we had cake, it was on time, and the guests thought it tasted good.

I was considering using Edible Artistry because her cake WAS very good but just from our initial meeting (which she forgot about) I had a lot of doubts about her.

Jennb - if you've got a very specific vision for your cake, like a photo to give her to copy the way Beth did, and you're willing to stay on top of her, it'll probably turn out okay.

I had a few ideas, and needed someone who could take my ideas and make a beautiful cake.  She's not that person.  It shouldn't take almost 70 e-mails and a dozen phone calls to end up with the cake I had. (pics in bio - my florist added the flowers)

Also, if you do go with her; her contract says she will contact you within so many days of the event, don't believe it, you have to contact her or she'll charge you a late fee.

Mary - I love your cake stand! Where did you get it or did it come from the baker?
