So back story...My FI asked if I wanted to get married (of course I said yes!), we went ring shopping in June & we fell in love with one that was a bit over budget. Instead of taking out a loan, he's been paying on it & will have it paid off this month so long story short, I don't have my ring yet. We have set a date & moved forward with planning & he is almost as excited as I am.
Last week I asked my mom if she wanted to go dress shopping after a doctor appt she had in Lincoln (we live an hr & 1/2 away, she's been really sick lately & I thought this could be a fun thing for us to do together). Her response was, "usually people do NOT go dress shopping w/o an engagement ring to show off!" Ouch #1.
Fast forward to today. My (only) brother (lives in LA) asks when a good time for him to come visit would be. I remind him that I'm planning on getting married March 24th & it would be nice if he & his girlfriend would come then. He told me his gf would still be in school (she is in college) & he was suppose to be in another wedding that weekend. I know money is tight for them & they would want to visit for more than a weekend but that was a major ouch. My FI said we could move the date but I reminded him that if we tried to accomodate everyone's schedule we would never get married.
I'm sure I'm just being sensitive but it just feels like my family is not being super supportive. My family loves my FI like family so I know it's not that (thank goodness!). That's all. Thanks for letting me vent!
