NWR: Gyno

So I have my first yearly gyno appointment tomorrow...my question is to do usually spot and bleed after a pap? Like should I bring a pantyliner or pad?

Re: NWR: Gyno

  • Your first one ever??

I always wear a panty liner afterwards, because some of the 'goo' they use can still come out, as well as any cramping that can expel stuff.

I have my annual in a week and a half and I'm so excited to talk to the doctor about our TTC plan. We don't want to start TTC until the summer, but we need to figure out when I should go off BC and use other methods of prevention. It's so exciting to be thinking about this stuff!

<div>This. Usually it's not a problem for me but you never know. My doctor always provides one but it would be a good idea to bring your own just in case.</div>

  • I would bring your own. At my gyno they always give you the giant pads that feel like a diaper.

I've been going to the same gyno since I was 18. In the little changing area he has little wipes and panty liners for that exact reason. So, I don't know that all gynos have those supplies for their patients, but perhaps he'll have them for you. I don't really spot afterwards, but the goo sneaks its way out.

Tiger, I totally talked about TTC last time I saw him. It was exciting. :)

  • Ditto PP. Bring one with you.  I have my yearly in May and I'm excited to talk about TTC.  We plan on trying around fall so I need to know when to stop the pill.

  • I've never experienced bleeding and the more relaxed you are the less uncomfortable it will feel.  Expect maybe a little bit of cramping afterward and definitely bring a panty liner.  I know my gyno only offers tissues to clean up with so  you may want to bring some disposable wips with you as well.  The "goo" they use is pretty much KY jelly and you may experience some discharge of this as the day goes by.  Good luck and you will be fine :)

yes. I'm only 21. And I've never wanted to tell my parents that I was sexually active when I was in college so I just went to Planned Parenthood the last 2 years and got my birth control that way. I took it into my own hands. Now that I'm getting married my mom told me to go.  So yeah, first time.

I'm a tad nervous! I'm going to school to be a nurse so I know that them seeing my va jay jay is no biggie to them, but the actual procedure freaks me out a little. I don't want pain ha.

But thanks for all the tips ladies! I'll throw something in my purse.

I'm also excited to talk to my dr about what I have to do before TTC. We aren't planning til at least the end of next year, but I'm on a medication for the rest of my life and I need to know any concerns that poses to my babies should I get pregnant.
  • I never experienced pain and I've been having an annual since the age of 16ish (way before I lost my virginity). It might be a little cold though. That's the only thing I remember catching me off guard.
