Food

So I'm curious to see what its costing everyone to feed their guests including apps if you are having them, but excluding cake. Sometimes I want to fall over when I look at the price! haha

If your not shy about sharing, comment below what you answered and for how many guests that is and whether that includes apps.

Re: Food

  • We're having about 150 guest @ about $125 pp so that's almost 19K.

I have 150 guests at $100-120/person depending on entree choice so that's $15-18,000.  That includes 5 waiter passed apps, starter course, salad, entree, bread, champagne toast, and table wine (but I will probably upgrade the wine).  It also includes tables, linens, candles, service fees, plates, silverware, glasses, etc.  So once all that in factored in it's not a terrible deal.

  • We will have passed appetizers and several items on a buffet. It's about $50 a person and we're looking at about 50 - 75 people - so $2500 - $3750. Alcohol is an extra $22 per person for open bar...

  • $0. Meals are included in the price of the cruise. Which is the only way we could pull off feeding everyone a formal sit-down dinner on our $3,000 budget.

I believe in a lot of things. I believe in fresh tennis balls, the healing power of bunnies, and that the novels of Susan Sontag are something I'll never read. In fact, I don't even know who Susan Sontag is. What is she... like... a painter? I believe in Crystal Lite because I believe in ME. I believe in the movies of Val Kilmer, though these days it ain't so easy. I believe in Darren Sproles, the word "dabble", the first season of "Silk Stockings", and big, warm, moist, gooey chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth and all over your face.

  • Our families are catering for us (i.e. cooking food and warming it up in the kitchen at the church) so it is not costing Fi and I anything. The families are dividing up who is cooking what so it should only be 100-300 per family. I'd say it will be close to 1000 when all is said and done.

  • My Venue offers a package of the food and open bar (it also inclused all taxes and gratuity and basic linens) for $75/person so if all 106 invited come the total for the reception will be $7,950.

  • Our food will be roughly $2500 - $3000 for around 80 - 100 guests.

  • Reading this post makes me feel so much better. We somehow found an amazing caterer that had three price options, we ended up picking the one that was 29/plate. Their prices went up, but since we signed with them early, we got to keep our prices. Our appetizers are expensive, though.

We were estimated for about 180 guests it would be about 9,000. We've invited 480, but it's a DW, so we have no idea how many to expect, but I assume approximately 200-250.
  • It's a little over 21K for our venue, food, baker, dj, and linens. Dividing that by 200 guests comes out to about $105 pp to attend our wedding. However, I think I remember our coordinator saying it's $60 per person for food, which means we're spending about 12K on dinner, plus about $800 more for appetizers. It's outrageous!

Our food will probably cost around 1k or under for about 180 guests. We are buying all the food and and my mom's best friend is going to cook it for us.  She is a head cook so they are letting her use their commercial kitchen for nothing a long with all the catering equipment. I'm in shock by what it's costing everyone else.  When we originally decided to have it catered, the prices averaged 12-18 a plate.  Since we are doing it this way, it's only going to cost us about 5.55 per person which is including appetizers three entree choices and several side dishes, bread and several salads and punch.  The venue does not allow alcohol and my FI and I don't drink as well as my side of the family, so it works out for us.
  • We were going to have a sit down dinner but we decided that wouldn't be the best thing. My FI recently became a diabetic. He has to give himself shots before he eats meals. So we figured we would skip out on that since he is limited to what he can eat. We know other people wouldn't want to eat the foods he can have. Also it wouldn't be fair to him to be around nice yummy food he couldn't eat :( . So we are just doing finger foods.

  • Our pricing structure is a bit odd so its hard to explain.  Its 5,500 to rent the hall, and that includes set-up, ceremony, room flip, tables, linens, silverware, glassware, plates, and dinner w/ 1 app for 100 people. We will be adding a few extra items to our buffet (& upgrades) and another couple of appetizers for about $10 per person, and we will also be adding hosted beer, wine and champagne for $30 a person.  So if our guest count is 100, it would be $8500, or $85 each.  If we decide to go with a fully hosted bar, it would be an additional $10 per person, so it would be $95 each.  Thankfully that includes all service charges, and we don't have sales tax in OR, so there won't be any charge tacked on above that.

  • Our caterer is costing around $15000, including cutlery, plates, linens and 2 x walk in chillers for the food and drinks (since it is an outdoor wedding).

For that, we get 7 hors d'oeuvres per person, bread and a selection of imported cheese on the table, and an incredible served buffet. The sit-down meal option was a bit cheaper but the buffet had so many delicious choices and gave guests more freedom so we went with that.
  • Ours will run about $2,500. It includes 2 meats 4 sides, bread, apps, and all of our cutlery, and cups, lemonade and sweet tea. Its about 13 bucks a person. Hell yeah!
