Has Anyone heard....

Its a kit, I guess that helps you change your name to your married name. They keep sending me emails! I don't know if I should get it. Is anyone else using this? What do you think??

  • I think someone may have posted about this about a week ago, but I'm pretty sure the consensus was that it's cheaper to just do it yourself and those kits aren't all that great. You might want to try a married board though since they may have used it after they got married and would know if it really works.

  • I think where people get confused is that what it saves you is time filing out the sheets. You type in a bunch of information and it uses it to basically auto-fill in the information in every sheet you could possibly need. IE: Banks, Driver's License, Passports, Magazine Subscriptions, Social Security.

So that you're not filling out the same information a lot. But I guess it depends on how much you think saving the time is worth, like I pretty much don't care about sitting down and personally filling out all those sheets, but I have heard a lot of good things about those kits. It's all on your preference, but it's still up to you to print the documents and deliver / mail them to their designated places.
  • My husband and I got married back in July and our big family wedding is in March along with a move so I needed to get all my name stuff switched over before then to make the transition to a new place and life easier. I did mine without a kit and it was incredibly easy. Just go to the Social Security office first, then the dmv, and after that any order you like. it's just a bunch of calls to your bank and credit card companies to figure out their specific policies on changing your name. With the money spent at the individual places to change my name, I am glad I didn't spend even more on the kit. It really doesn't take that long. I filled out the paperwork while I sat/stood in line anyway to give me something to do. It isn't a bad kit by any means, but to me it just seemed like paying for a screen door on a submarine.
