March 2012 Weddings

TWO WEEKS!

That's right, I have a 2 week vacation beginning today! I have so much going on over break and so many wedding things I want to accomplish, that I'm not sure how much of a break it will be. However, sleeping in, lunch dates with my friends, no lesson plans, and no catty little 4th graders, this will be good. :)

Today's plans: dentist appointment, finish up Christmas shopping, begin wrapping, and stuff and stamp our invitations.

PS. I totally don't really "feel" Christmas this year. It's always my favorite time of year. Our home looks beautiful and I can't wait to spend time with our families, but I feel like every free second of every day is spent thinking about wedding stuff. There hasn't been room or time for me to even think about Christmas. Anyone else feel this way?

I start my 13 day vacation tomorrow!!! SO excited!

I know what you mean about not being in the christmas spirit.  We have no tree, no decorations.  Nothing.  I feel like a complete scrooge. But with packing and moving it would just be impossible for us - but still makes me sad that we don't get to do any of that....And I'm kind of dreading christmas at FI parents this weekend.... I hope it doesn't turn into all wedding talk - and about how MUCH airfare/hotel are blah blah blah.... IF you think it's too much don't say anything to me and just don't go.. Thanks.

  • I feel the exact same way. I feel like Christmas just snuck up on me because I've spent so much time occupying myself with wedding stuff. I'm afraid I'll slack off over Christmas and then be overwhelmed as soon as the holiday festivities are over. Next Christmas hopefully will be more relaxing without planning a wedding. LOL

and Amber, I know what you mean, i get annoyed when people talk about how much it'll cost to get there and the airfair and I really want to be like, you don't HAVE to come!!!!! argh.
  • Yes!! I think the exact same thing. We have all of our decorations up and I've tried really hard to get in the Christmas spirit but it's just not happening this year.

I have 12 days off starting tomorrow so I'm super excited, too. I have a TON of stuff on my to do list, mostly DIY things I've been putting off.

    Definitely agree!!!
    Anniversary
  • I start my vacation this weekend and have the last week of the year off. This is my first year doing Christmas - first tree for me and everything. I've never had that big holiday thing (I'm Jewish so Hanukkah is my thing). I live in FL so its not very winter wonderland/holiday here - I think it will be 80 this weekend. And growing up I spent a lot of Christmas time in the Caribbean.

I know FI misses Christmas - his mom is VERY into decorating. And I know he wants to go up north next year which scares me (I'm not into the cold at all).

I'm just looking forward to the time off work so I can get some things done and hit up the after Christmas sales!

Glad you have a 2 week break...hope you get to relax somewhere in between..and I'm totally with the Lack of Feeling Christmas..plus I live in PA..and we usually always have snow by now, so that isn't exactly helping..but I'm trying to be in the spirit, especially for my boys <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />

  • I am so glad I am not the only one not in the Christmas spirit this year. I think for me its just that I would like to just skip ahead to what I have going on in the first 3 month of next year. Plus we were spending much so that put a damper on my shopping anyways.

  • My two weeks started on Monday so I got a little head start on you but we have to go back on the 2nd for professional development. Gotta love being a teacher!!!

I feel the same way as all the PPs...Christmas definitely snuck up on me this year. And when we went Christmas shopping this week, I felt like I was always thinking about getting stuff for the wedding. Looking at luggage, hair accessories, clutches, honeymoon clothes... I feel bad about thinking about me instead of thinking about others on the holidays.

  • This post is me over and over. I just posted on fb last night that I felt like a scrooge because I totally can't get into Christmas this year! Decorations are up (I did only decorate the tree 2 days ago) but I haven't baked cookies, no random acts of kindness, I've barely uttered Merry Christmas!! Its terrible. And I know every gift I'm getting so there is no excitement or anything to look forward to. :(

    Bah humbug :(
  • I feel the opposite.

So much Christmas stuff, that I can't think about wedding. :(

Makes me sad. I despise Christmas every year!
