March 2012 Weddings

Question

So I just want to see what people's opinions are.. my dad has a friend (well 2) that own personal helicopters. He has mentioned that If I want something unique he is sure that the guy would let us do a church get away in his 'copter. So like we would leave the chapel and hop straight into the helicopter and take off, leaving the guests to walk over to the reception that we would arrive to a little later.  Here is my question:

Re: Question

  • I would imagine you would need all kinds of permits and permission to do this.  I would personally find it obnoxious.

  • It's definitely unique!  But I guess it might have made more sense if people had to drive to the reception rather than take a little walk... so at least the helicopter was taking you to the reception, ya know?  Still... I think it's pretty BA!

  • While I think this is totally cool, I would think your hair would get blown to death & your dress would make trying to get on the copter.

I agree. I am sure it would be tons of fun to take a helicopter ride I do think your guests would find it a little too over the top. If you really want to do it maybe you and fi could do it a day or two before the wedding as something for just the two of you to have a little fun and wedding free time?
  • While I love helicopter rides (JP proposed in one), I don't think I'd want it at my wedding. My stomach got a little nauseous. It's super windy and somewhat cramped, so I don't think I'd be totally comfortable in a wedding dress. Since it's so windy and loud, I don't think your guests would want to be near to see you guys off, ya know. That being said, I would definitely take advantage of the free rides another time because they are fun! :)

  • I agree with everyone else. I'm not really a fan of it for the wedding but I think some other time would be fun!! I'm less concerned that your guests would think it was obnxious and more concerned that your dress/hair/makeup could get really messed up in the wind and tight space.

This almost exactly. While it sounds super fun and really cool, I didn't even think logistically how it would flow with hair/makeup

ETA- BC of this, I didn't vote. :)
  • Thanks for the input ladies! I had been thinking some of the same things. I just needed someone to run it by!
