March 2012 Weddings

Invitations are literally a pain...

The invitations are in the mail! A little late (just under six weeks away), but it feels good to be done!

Did anyone else get a blister on the side of their hand from addressing invites? My hand hasn't been this sore since writing exams in undergrad.

Re: Invitations are literally a pain...

  • I have horrible handwriting and my mom really doesn't have the time to write them out.  I printed out labels in a pretty font and stuck them all on the envelope.  I started to print them onto the envelopes but it wasn't turning out right.  I know labels is supposedly a knottie no no, but I really didn't care.  I really would be doing people a disservice if I wrote them out lol
  • I used clear labels.  My handwriting is horrible and my printer wasn't accepting the envelopes, it kept telling me it was the wrong paper size even though I had it set up to the exact dimensions of the enveloipe.  They looked fine.
  • My mother would be horrified if I had used labels, so that wasn't an option. She actually offered to write them herself, but that would have meant a three hour drive each way to give them to her. So I turned on the TV and started writing.
  • We went the label route.  No one even batted an eyelash about it not being proper.

I wrote mine out, but I actually did just a few a week prior to sending them out, so no blisters! :)

Ha, my mom told me to bring them home at Christmas so she could help - and then the night my FI started putting them together she went to bed early and we did them all ourselves.  Which was fine, but it made me wonder why I bothered bringing them there!

My hand was kind of sore afterward - FI addressed a lot too, though he went slower because he doesn't think his regular handwriting is legible enough (I think it's fine).  All in all it wasn't that bad, though it did take us 5 hours.  And later in the week my mom complained about us 'sleeping in' - well, we were up until almost 2am doing them!

</div><div>My FI has terrible hand writing, so I did them all on my own. But a couple of the groomsmen were over and marking student assignments (we are all grad students), so at least I had company!</div>
