RD :) Restaurant Critics please!

Funny I feel like I just answered a question regarding the RD the other day. I was talking to FI about the changes/ money/WORK we would have to put into our house and I got him to realize that it may be more than it is worth to have the RD in our backyard.

My dobe's cow sized-poo basically RUINED our grass and our deck would need to be restained and we need more trees...ughhh.
Sooo that means I need to gather a restaurants to get some quotes from. The restaurants that are in the area, that can probably accomodate about 40 people and are in our price range listed.

I'm sure there are a few others I can't really think of off the top of my head. I'll have to do more research.

ETA: I went ahead and posted on my local board, too...I guess I didn't realize how regional some of these franchises are :)

:( Lol I guess I figured most of these were pretty big franchises and not so regional, but I guess Mexican/BBQ food is a down south thang ;) lol

I LOVE CHUYS!!! And so does everyone I know! :) It actually originated in Austin so they probably only have stores in Texas as of now. I would go with Chuy's.

I am slightly obsessed with their strawberry/lime dotted margaritas. YUM!

ETA: I suddenly realized that all the restaurants I put up, minus Goode BBQ has margarita I like. Coincidence?? Hmm...

  • I voted cheddars. A few I've not heard of but mostI have. I know around here cheddars has good food for reasonable prices. It's a nice casual atmosphere as well. I think a place like hooters is more of a place for a bachelor party.

DItto PP. I only know the chain resturants you mentioned and I somehow don't think Hooters would be appropriate for an RD.

Meh, I kind of disagree- shrug. I eat there alll the time and its mostly WP/SOs bc it's on a Thursday, and no one has kids...but I guess I can see what you're saying. I should probably take that one down lol.
  • I would not go to Hooters. You might be ok with it, but parents and older relatives might not feel the same way.

Well, I've already addressed this in previous posts, but I can't actually take it off my poll and wont DD. :)

Anywho, which one would you want to go to?
  • i vote for chilis cause i only know that and hooters!!! seems like we are missing a bunch of restaurants in NJ////the hooters closest to me in an a hotel!

  • Lol- yea I guess I was focusing on the food/margaritas...plus it is really close to where our venue is. I basically came up with a list of restaurants that are near the venue and that I consider decent food (especially if it was free!).

The other restaurants nearby I am almost certain no one has heard of unless you are in the Texas area, but I was surprised at some of the 'bigger' franchises being unknown.
  • Like PPs said, the only two I know of are Chili's and Hooters. Hooters definitely doesn't seem RD appropriate, not to mention, I'm just not a fan of their food. I like to go there for a game and to drink a beer, but I've never liked a single food item I've ordered. So, out of those two, I'd say Chilis.

If you still want the lay low BBQ style deal, perhaps a parent or family member has a nice backyard. Either way, good luck with whatever you decide! :)

  • Well, I went ahead and posted on my local board and have a better idea. Alot of people like Chuy's! I mentioned hooters bc it was nearby and known but truly find in NBD for an RD. I mean, I never said I was pushing for it, but just know that an RD can be as casual as wings/beer...which is why I even put it up there. I find it odd that someone would not go specifically just bc it's hooters, but then again, weve also been there with our parents and grandparents! Hell I have cousins who work there! Hehehe But since most of you really only knew Hooters and Chilis, I guess that's why I got so many responses regarding hooters lol Brit- I think it would be too much to ask for someone to host 40 people at their house (plus clean up), so I may just have to figure out a restaurant that can accomodate- more research! Ugh!!
