March 2012 Weddings

Wedding Band Issue

So I called down to the jeweler we got my e-ring from to check into getting the matching wedding band. The lady says she'll call me back with an estimate. So she calls me  back an hour later and tells me that the company my ring is from is no longer in their store (FI only bought it 8 months ago!) and that they can not order my ring. They will have to custom design my band based off of my e-ring.  So yeah great. Nothing in this planning process has been without bumps!

So I went to the store this afternoon and they hijacked my e-ring to make some computer generation. And so I have to drive down to pick it up and then another time to try on the rubber version of it to make sure I love it with my ring. Ugh. It is supposedly going to turn out even better than if I ordered it because I got to decide how I wanted it to fit with my ring.

I get the price quote by Thurdsday but I'm very nervous to see the price. They assured me it would be around the same amount as the original one, but I'm very hesitant :(

Re: Wedding Band Issue

  • Omg! ....that sucks in a way but good in a way too because then you can get it the way you exactly want it! I'm without my ring too cuz they needed it to make the wax :( But hopefully the price is comparable to what it would have been

Story of my life!! :( Sorry that the band is becoming an issue and that you don't have your right for a few days, but like PPs said, at least you're getting to design your ring and it should be at a similar cost. That means it's totally unique and unlike any exact other. :) Def post pics later this week!

  • Were there not any other stores that sold the brand you wanted? Fingers crossed that they don't surprise you with a high price tag!

I'm waiting for the price quote first, but that is something my mom brought up too. However a bonus to getting it at the original store was that we got a 15% discount for buying the e-ring there. That could save us about $350 dollars or so.
  • I've had to get my wedding band resized twice - well, the first time I went to get it they hadn't sized it at all, and the second time it was too small even though it measured as exactly the same size as my engagement ring.  I think it's because the ring is flatter - which, I havent' said this to FI yet but I swear that's not the ring I picked out.  I wanted just a plain band but I don't remember it being so flat.  It didn't look right with my engagement ring, I really hope that it was just because it was too small.

I am also without my engagement ring right now because for the second time since I got it (in March!) one of the stones on the side has fallen out.  I'm fairly certain it was the same stone both times.  And both times it came out while being cleaned - they've been able to find the stone both times (the first time they noticed it immediately, but this past week neither of us noticed it and I realized it was gone around 10:30 that night).  All I can say is the protection plan was DEFINITELY worth the money!!!!!!

and I really miss my ring - my hand feels naked without it!!!
