March 2012 Weddings

Anybody having to buy their own barware?

Our venue allowed us to bring in our own alcohol, but we have to provide the cups to serve them in. It's wierd because they HAVE cups, but we can only use them if they are for non-alcoholic beverages. We hired a margarita machine through them that serves alcohol, and they provide the cups. So we are only providing cups for our mixed drinks, shots and wine/beer.

FI went to Sam's today to check out the prices, but I'm kind of wishing my venue just provided ALL OF THAT. :/ Anyone else dealing with this?

  • Well we are having that issue with our rehearsal dinner. The venue has just tables and chairs and we have to rent or buy everything else. I'm still debating between plastic and glass.

Meh, what a mess! I just want everything to be consistent! :( I found a place called www.webstaurantstore.com that has some pretty decent and nice looking plasticware. I'm pretty sure we'll go there for the wine glasses and probably the rocks glasses (all plastic, though)
  • We have to provide all of our. All of the plates and utinles for the food and the cups for drinks for the wedding. But that is due to the fact that my parents are doing all the food, drinks and cake for my wedding. They got everything at GFS.

It is a Gordon Food Services. It is a store that you buy in bulk and it is geared toward food products and catering only. That is where we are getting all the food for the reception as well.

  • Wow, that's really annoying. I'm sorry you have to deal with that. :( We have to provide all the alcohol, lime/lemons, and juice mixers (oj, cranberry, etc.). They provide all the cups, napkins, ice, soft drinks, etc. We are not allowing shots at our wedding though.

We have Smart & Final here, which carries all those sorts of items. I can't say much about the prices, but it might be worth a shot. Good luck!
