March 2012 Weddings

Weekend update.

So today I went and purchased my veil! All along I have been dying to have an illusion veil which is one that is basically the tulle has glitter all over it and sparkles like crazy. However I tried it on with my dress and it didn't go at all!! :( So after I got over my dream not coming true I picked out a regular veils who's detail beading matched my dress perfectly!

Also had my venue give me a mock bill to see what it would cost with my food choices and the good news is when everything is all added together, It shows I will only be a couple hundred over budget versus $2000 some as estimated by the stupid spreadsheet I created!!

And we previously had picked out tuxes to rent from my venue because that was all my mom wanted me to do due to the easiness of returns.  However they only offered one gray tux and it is a dark charcoal and I wanted more of a light silver like this pic:

And when my mom saw the tux in person today she goes I thought that wasn't what you wanted? I said that was my only option if I got them here!! She goes I can't believe you didn't complain about this to me (go figure!) and she gave me permission to look elsewhere for tuxes. I'm torn now because the first time around was a huge struggle and FI thinks we should just leave it. (typical boy) so now I have to decide what I really want to do :/

Re: Weekend update.

  • Those are some good checks.  Isn't it funny how we love something and have to have it then see it up close and personal and it's completely not what we want or need?  I did this with a dress i found online, went to the store and tried it on and it was horrible.  Anyways, I'm jealous of your gray tuxes.  I really wanted gray tuxes but I was vetoed by EVERYONE lol.

  • I love the dark charcoal suits/tuxes!! I got vetoed as well but I think that'd be a great choice!

  • That's hilarious, I tried to get gray to and FI was NOT having it. Lost that battle. Definitely.
  • That's awesome, congrats! Question though, how come you couldn't go wherever you guys wanted for tuxes in the first place? Are you parents paying for them? I always thought the guys paid for their own tuxes....?

  • PS. Love that picture, you totally have to recreate something like that since you'll be in purple and gray. :)

Well my parents hold the purse strings for the whole wedding and the men are paying for their own tuxes but my mother was so adament about getting the tuxes from there.  Even at a bridal show she wouldn't let make a deal with a tux shop.  Her main thing is she thinks that she has to be in charge of returning the tuxes. And she DOES NOT want that duty. So she said that I could go somewhere else as long as she didn't have to be in charge of returning them.  However I told her it should be up to the boys and if they returned it late it was there money at stake anyways?? Idk. She can be crazy sometimes.

I'm just torn as to whether or not to put myself through that torture again. Not to mention i'm embrassed to have to recontact the guys and tell that they are getting their tuxes from a new place....You know me changing my mind....not being able to make decisions....Idk. its kind of irrational but I don't want to be judged!
