Card Boxes

Hi, me again, what are you using for a card box? I need ideas. My venue won't lock up the box for us so I'm kinda nervous

I'm going to use a planter (that looks like a wine barrel) with fabric attached over it with just enough of a hole for people to drop cards in. I'll have one of my girlfriends collect the cards after the cocktail hour. I hadn't even though of where we'd put them since most people will have taken the shuttle to the venue.

Do you think it's safe to lock them up in someone's car during the reception?

I'm nervous, too. But I think there's a suite we use that has a safe for us to lock it in. If there's not, I'll be having my HUUUUUGE stepdad gaurd it all night.

Am I missing something? I thought the card box was supposed to be displayed during the reception, and you just assign someone like your mom/dad/IL's to take it with them after the reception is over.

This was going to be my question too...I've never seen them leave the reception before the couple does...

Oh, maybe that's my mistake. Since we're having our ceremony/cocktail hour/reception all at the same location, I thought the gift table was out by the ceremony, so that as guests entered the ceremony, they could drop the gifts and cards off. If that isn't right, then we will definitely have to move where we put that!

Our gift table will be on the path that leads guests to our ceremony in the castle courtyard. It will be in clear view of everyone, so I'm not worried about it during that period of time. My coordinator said that after the ceremony is over, usually the GM or dads will collect all the gifts and put them in the gift area inside the castle. She said we should either lock the cardbox up in the chest they provide or lock it in someone's trunk. I think we'll lock it up in the chest, along with all of our (myself, BMs) purses and valuables.

So, the card box will be out during the ceremony because guests will be arriving. However, once we start cocktail hour it will be locked up. I don't think everyone always does this at their wedding, I just don't trust some a few of my cousins which is really sad to be quite honest.
