What should I do?!

Okay so my wedding is outside at our Vegas hotel and the reception is in the hotel in a suite.

What are we supposed to do or where are we supposed to go after the ceremony? When we walk back down the aisle? We want everyone to head up to the cocktail reception so Sean and I can get a few more shots by our altar (it is amazing and we are paying an assload for it so I want more pics of us by it after the cermony. Are we supposed to go hide out somewhere until everyone gets up to the reception? Or do we literally walk down the aisle, then turn around and hang around while everyone is getting up and going?

I just can't picture what we are supposed to do!

Re: What should I do?!

  • I'd probably hide out because if you go back people will probably want to stay and chat still. So i'd wait for them to leave lol
  • More than likely you are not the first person to get married there, so can you call the hotel and ask them what other couples do?

We are going to go into the Inn once we walk back down the isle so everyone can mosey over to cocktail hour.

I was at an outdoor wedding where the wedding party just walked down the isle and gathered together in the grass. The photographer was with them, and the officant made an announcement for the guest to enjoy cocktail hour while the wedding party had photos. It let everyone know not to disturb the couple in a nice way.

PS how is the poison ivy?!?

  • When I was watching one of my guilty pleasure shows(Four WeddingsEmbarassed) one of the couples greeted each guest as they came out of the pews and sent them back up the aisle. That could work for you where people know you are greeting everyone and  dont have time to stop and chat and it gives you both a chance to be the last two in your chapel.

<div>My friends did this.  It took a long time, but they had over 200 guests and they hugged each person.  This is a great option, especially if you have fewer guests.</div>
  • We are asking our officiate to let everyone know that we will come back and dismiss each row and they are can immediately go to the reception site for cocktail hour.  While they are on their way we will be taking photos with the bridal party.
  • Thanks for the suggestions!! I definitely called my wedding coordinator and told her my concerns (for some reason I always forget I can ask her...you guys are just my go to bunch! lol)

She said they would lead us to a private grassy area to have a moment alone and they will send our photographer and wedding party to join us for pictures and that she and the staff will usher people up to the reception location!

    Crisis averted lol
