Bustle

Hello - I'm a lurker here mostly, but am looking for thoughts. :)

I had my first fitting a week ago and feel like I'm so lost when it comes to bustles...I never thought about them until then!

She showed me so many options...I think I'm going with some sort of french bustle, though, my dress is lace.

What sort of dress do you have and what sort of bustle are you getting? Anyone else have a lace dress?

Re: Bustle

  • Mine isn't lace, but I went with an over bustle. It works best with my dress. Do you maybe have a picture of your dress to show us so we could get a visual of it all?

  • My dress is really full on the bottom so an over bustle worked best.  Ask your seamstress what she recommends.

  • My dress is lace and I did a french bustle. It showed off the detailing better. Ask your seamstress see what she recommends. My seamstress tried a few different bustles before she decided a french would look the best.

  • Here is a picture, It's pretty small. It's David's Bridal WG9821.

  • I haven't had my fitting yet but when I originally tried my dress on they gave me a couple of options.  My dress is satin underneath with a layer of organza so I will have to have two different bustles, one for the satin layer which I think will be a French bustle and one for the top organza layer which will be an under bustle.
  • I don't have a less dress, but I'm doing a french bustle. Ask your seamstress what she thinks will look best. Take friends and family with you, what do they like? It's hard to imagine without seeing your dress.
