Is it common for the bride to register for her bridal shower?

    Yes it is common for the bride and groom to register before any gift-giving type parties and then they just keep the registry up to date until the wedding.  Although the registry information (according to most ettiquite) should only go in the shower invites and not in any engagment party or wedding invites for those events its word of mouth.
