Your Opinions Please

Hi Ladies - Could I please get your input?I am getting married labor day weekend, around 75% of my guest list are out of town. I am debating between:- Kellogg for wedding, reception and hotelor- Henry Center/University Club for wedding, reception and then Marriot for a hotelIt is a football weekend. And I am torn because Kellogg would be so convient but more in the football area (wedding would be evening though) but Henry Center/Uclub is so friendly and accomodating and more out of the rush.Appreciate your feedback!! And I am living across the country now so just appreciate the local perspective!

I know Kellogg gives a $3 per head discount for home football weekends, and it is gorgeous.  A bit pricey (we looked at them ourselves), but worth it for what you get.  I don't know much about the U Club other than you have to be a member or sponsored to have your event there.

I wish I had a better answer other than that is a tough one! I'm a little partial to the U Club for some reason. I work at MSU and have visited both for lunch event/meetings, and I always got a better vibe from the U Club, but I've never attended a wedding at either. I also have never looked into the pricing at the U Club, but if it's less than the Kellogg even with that potential discount, I would probably consider that.Out of curiousity, is there a reason you wouldn't use the Candlewood Suites at the Henry Center for the hotel?

Well based on the pics online my guests wouldn't really want to stay at the Candlewood it looks really outdated. And the rates are more expensive $180ish compared to $150s for Kellogg or Marriott. I also thought sent I am going with an evening wedding we could walk to a rehersal dinner and around town Saturday before the event. The pricing is compareable both offer discounts on football weekends from Kellogg and Uclub.I agree with the vibe as seen in these posts and what I have witnessed Kellogg's customer service strugles until your wedding weekend.I welcome the input!!

You might have a tough time booking a block of rooms on a football weekend so book well in advance....like a year. We are using the Mariott, the rooms are super nice and we got them for like $110 a night. I did not like the European style bathrooms at the Kellogg....check them out....sooo not conducive for getting ready for a wedding

Thanks, were you able to negotiate at all? I think I am going to do the Henry Center-University Club and use Marriott as the hotel.

I would go with the Kellogg Center- They are amazing & very organized oh & the food is great too!!  This is where I am having my reception in October & a friend had hers there & it was beautiful!  Oh & as for hotels look at the Hampton Inn near Lake Lansing Road-- They just finished remodeling with marble counter tops etc-- & we got standard double rooms at $99 a night on the biggest weekend of the year (Mich vs State @ State) and we needed a lot because we have a TON of people from out of town.Hope this helps!!
