Lansing Wedding Vendors.

Hi everyone, I'm new to the boards. My fiance lives in Maryland and he is coming back to Michigan a week from this coming Thursday. During this time we're going to visit a bunch of wedding vendors I met at the Lansing Bridal Show this past September.We're thinking of having out wedding at the Hawk Hollow Chapel, reception at the Eagle Eye Hillside room, using Complete Music & Video for out DJ and videographer and Unique Imagery as our photographer.Has anyone had any of these vendors and have good advice?Also, I think Hawk Hollow/Eagle Eye is beautiful, but I've heard that their food is sub-par. What are some good dishes? Or, likewise, what should I stay away from!Thanks so much!

Hi, I was a b-maid for a friend at Eagle Eye this past summer and the service is great. I thought the food was very good for the price she paid. EE/HH is very reasonably priced for the venue. There are quite a few that priced higher that are not as good. I have also been there a couple other times for wedding receptions over the past 2 years and was impressed with the food. But I will say if you are late for the reception and the food is served very late it will be sub par because all the venues have their meals ready at a certaiin time and if it sits around they have to try and keep it hot. I have heard mostly good about complete music but they have many dj's so it might depend on who you get. I have not heard of Unique Imagery so I google them siince they are not listed on the knot. Couldn't find anything. It's always a good idea to google them and see where they come up. If they are on the first or second page that can be a good thing because it shows a lot of activity. I have been happy with my photographer because they are so willing to work with me. If you scroll down the posts and what I have had to go through in the last week you will see why. If you are going to check out more than one vendor for photography (everyone should) my photog is Save the Moments Photography. www.savethemoments.com They are excellent. Not the cheapest or the most expensive but very good.

I'm using the Chapel at Hawk Hollow and the Grand Garden room at Eagle Eye!  They are both gorgeous!  We're also using Complete Music & Video for DJ and videographer.  Mickey Sawyer is our DJ.  He did my sister's as well and we really like him!  He does a lot of to keep the guests entertained and dancing.  He also does a lot of coordinating with the other vendors to make sure everything goes smoothly.  At my sister's wedding, he even took drink orders for the wedding party and went to the bar for us! The food at both HH and EE is delicious!  We're having the sliced beef tenderloin and garlic and rosemary chicken.  I've been there for tons of weddings and the food has always been excellent.  I agree with the previous post...if the bridal party is not there on time, the food sits in warmers and isn't as fresh so be very clear about your arrival & dinner time and stick to it!  I definitely think it's the best venue in the Lansing area for cost and what you get.I haven't heard much about Unique Imagery.  We're using Looking Glass Photography (Kelly Gillespie).  She was excellent at our engagement session!  She is a little on the higher end for price, but photos were important to us.  Here is her blog with a few of our engagement photos: http://lookingglassphotography.blogspot.com/2009/08/amy-loves-jeff.htmlHope this helps!  Good luck!

We're having our reception at Hawk Hollow in Patio I.  So far the people there have been wonderful to work with and I don't think I have ever heard a bad thing about the service the day of.I haven't hard of CM&V or Unique Imagery.  We're having Sam Courtney as our DJ and Kelly from Looking Glass Photography as our photographer.

Thank you to all of you for your help.It sounds like I have nothing to be scared about if I book with Hawk Hollow/Eagle Eye. I have an appointment with them on Thursday, Oct. 15 and wish it were tomorrow! I can't wait!Haha, it seems as if everyone has a different photographer. I spoke with Samantha at Unique Imagery on the phone and booked an appointment with her on Thursday as well. I don't know what it is, but our personalities get along really well. Lets hope the photos go just as well! ... I may do engagement photos with them and if they turn out as well as I hope, then I'll book them for the wedding too.And Amy, your engagement photos look so nice! I can't wait to take mine!Thanks to all of you, once again :-)

Naomi at Eagle Eye is one of the chefs, and she bakes amazing wedding cakes.  Although my wedding is not at Eagle Eye, I am using Naomi for my wedding cake.  My fiance and I shopped around with 5 different wedding cake places and Naomi's cakes were hands down the most delicious we had ever tasted.  Plus, her prices were the most reasonable at $2.50 a slice.  Our second choice was A Piece of Cake, because their cakes are like artwork, but we thought the cakes were a bit dry, and at nearly $5 a slice, we couldn't afford them.  If you're having your wedding at Hawk Hollow or Eagle Eye, definitely look into getting your wedding cake done there too.  Once you go to the tasting, you won't be disappointed.

I am using Complete Music for my DJ. My fiancee worked there while he was in college and he said that they go above and beyond what is required. He also said that he has not been to a wedding since he worked there that got people dancing as much as they do. I'm very excited to work with them. I dont know when you're wedding is, but they are going to be at a bridal show in january and if you put down your deposit that day they give you a $200 discount. I didn't want to risk it so I booked them right away!
