we did it!!! Vendor Reviews!

So we got married on Saturday..and I must say everything went better than expected. I am going to do my reviews now...while I am thinking about them. If yuo want anyones info just ask k! Seven Islands Hall, in Grand Ledge...A- I first want to say for anyone who is on a tight budget and is planning to have a smaller wedding 150 or less. This place is perfect....Why the A- because being that I booked the hall in like early March gave the deposit and what not..I knew I had to pay the remainder within 30 days..well they contacted me like 20 days before..I got it to them, but because of max on ATM..I was still 40 short....they called and was a little annoying like when are you going to pay it. I was more perturbed in the fact that they wanted CASH for the deposit...which I got returned today (MONDAY). The deposit was only 250.00,Bur when your paying for a wedding mostly your self and have kids to feed 250.00 cash is ALOT. Most vendors will take a check and or credit card numbers and return. Also the bathrooms were cold..other than that like I said those who are on a budger great place! Dorthea Fields...Harpist... A++++she was amazing from what I heard and remember, very prompt. played what we requested and very pleasant. I would recomended her for anyone who is looking for a harpist. She was very resonable and good and what she did. Randy Ross (DJ from 96.5) A++++Randy was awsome she kept everything live..being that we had a very mixed wedding and some country was requested she stuck it in there without ruining the flow. Randy is a good friend of ours so we got a great price..but I know she is very fair and professional and loves doing weddings, Davids Bridal C I have to say my dress was beautiful....however the first night I went in looking they were really pushy on other expensive dresses. I ended up going back during the day like 4 days later and asking once again for the 99.00 sale and I was took to a rack on the back side wall..which I was never shown the few days before. There I found a $650.00 beautifull dress for 99.00 which fit perfectly with no alterations and took it home that day. However I did take it back for a bustle which took 3 weeks to the day and hour to get it back. I am a little mad because I ended up ripping the buslte which I feel like was money wasted.. and the service in that area of the store gets a D..because they were very rude. Trica Miller A+++++ Trica is one of my daughters friends mom..who is amazing. We had her make our cake..which she told me to find a pic of what I like and she could pretty much make anything we wanted, It turned out absoutly gorgeous and tasted yummy. We also hired her to be behind the scences the go between person. She ran everything smoothly and had lots of fun doing it. Adelines Catering out of Grand Rapids....AAA++++++++ I can not begin to describe the food, the service everything,,,just absoutly perfect. We only paid for 60 adults and 18 kids and we had soo much food left over that I fed people the next day and today giving them plates not to mention what people ate there most people had seconds..everything was soooo yummy, We got so many compliments. Just outstanding. We had butlerd hor'dourves and I heard that they were very tasty. Again for what you spend which was not what you thought you would is abosoulty the best deal out there. Just perfect Anne at the office is just awsome and very accomadating...what we wanted was exactly what we got!! Sohn Linen A+++++ I am soo happy one of the knotties posted the one day service for linen that they offer..They had my colors and at 4.25 t0 5.25 a piece...we got our linens to rent for 80.00 which is really cheap. I must say the girls there Kristen, Jean and one other one can't remember her name off the top of my head give EXCELENT customer service.. I talked to them about 7-8 different times..and each time very helpful and patient. Ace Rentals (on Mt Hope) D ..we used them to rent our trellice (sp) and card box. They price was great, the first person I had talked to on the phone ws awsome that is why I decieded to go there. However when I got there the "owner" was not very nice and very rude,,,she tried to change her attitude and did for the business but again when I went and picked the stuff up a day or two before she was again not very pleasant..I can honestly say I will not be back for anything. Monro Photgraphy (Laura) A++++++ I found her on craigs list. I must say was a little hestiant untill I met her..very down to earth and her work was very nice and her price was very cheap. She brought her mom along as a second shooter no charge and I must say we had a ton of fun with her she was very detailed and noticed things we didn't notice like tie clips hanging, eye glasses to low etc,,,very fun and I can't wait to see my pics in a a week or so! Bridge Salon ( grand Ledge) A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I must say all of you ladies who raved about Sara OMG!!! She is truly amazing......not I only did I meet a hairdresser I met a future friend. She is the sweetest thing I have ever met in a long time...down to earth, knowledgable and just plain out sweet. She did my hair and makeup and I received so many compliments...I can't say enough about her.....one of tthe other girrls did my MOH makeup and it did not look that good,, My MOH didn't want to say anything but at the same time we both relized she couldn't leave looking the way she did..so she kindly took her to the side and fixed it and then politely told the other girl what she should of did and why were fixing it. Sara is truly the best hair dresser I have come to know in my 30 years of life!! I just love her. Baraymaes (saginaw) D.....Even though I did not deal with them, Hubby did..they are way over priced and there service was rude we will not be going back to them anytime soon...so look around and talk to people before you make your choice. Catherines salon A (thomas lane ) Nice little salon that my mom and I went into on Friday to get our nails and toes done, Very charming little place..we had lots of fun..My mom and one of my daughters ended up going back the next day to get their hair updos and they were really cute and a good price. L&L shoprite (Haslet) A++++ On a random day I inquried about flowers with a girl named Mindy, We talked for a few and I decided to have her do my flowers we went with like a deep purple calia lilly with baby breath and smaller boquets for my one BM and MOH and single ones for my daughters then of course groomsmen and mom flowers were abosoutly perfect my boquet was beautiful and I only paid $140.00...which to me was a great find.. Village Flower shop (dimondale) I give a A for effort Deb the owner had beautiiful flower arrangements including a head center piece picked out for us but at the last minute I changed my mind. Deb is very sweet..I like to give the local little people business. I just want to go more sweet and simple...and never really inquired on how much it would of been to change from what I got at L&L. Dawn A+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ By far one of the neatest, sweetest people I have EVER met..........she was my caricutrist. WHich ws our party favors she wsa a huge hit and EVERYONE loved her.....I ended up having her stay a little longer. I am soo happy I met her..because it was absoutly a blast with her there., As far as my shoes (29.99 internet), daughters dresses (59.00 each internet), sons tux (24.98 w/shippping from ebay) I did a lot on the internet did my own decorations with a lot of use of Michaels silk leaves and some fresh real pressed leaves I bought of ebay. If you would like more info on any of my vendors I would love to share them with you,

I'm glad to see that everything went good!  I love the idea that you had a caricaturist.  That was different and I bet it was a big hit!

I'm so glad that Sohn's worked out for you! :) I'm also glad to hear such a good review because I plan to use them for ours. We're considering the same reception location. Would you be willing to share any pictures of how you had it set up? Also, did your caterer provide bar tending or did you get another vendor for that or go without? Thanks!

My wedding will be at the Grand Ledge Opera house (9/19/10...yay), and Adeline's is on the preferred vendors list. I checked out their website, and they look great, and the prices look reasonable. I did notice that they state on their website that their is a minimum order charge for Grand Ledge of $1500. Since our wedding will probably be 75-100 people, I figured we may not hit that. I wonder if she would charge a trip charge if not? Also, I think the caricature is a great idea! was it expensive?

I am normally on the GR board, but I've been working so much in Lansing i wanted to get some other ideas of whats out there. We are also using Adeline Leigh - I so excited!! The food is so fabulous. When we went to a tasting over the summer my FI had to make me stop eating - I was on like my 4th plate! I am also using Laura Munro as my photographer and found her on Craigs List. She did our e-pics yesterday, and was so much fun. I saw your pics on her blog before I even saw your post on here and thought they looked awesome. I was also wondering if you had used ADC when I saw the ice bowl. Thanks for the review!! Glad to hear great reviews on my vendors!
