Heinz Chapel Parking??

Does anyone know where our wedding guests can park if we have our ceremony at Heinz Chapel?

On the street is the closest and cheapest.

Hmm.. I am concerned with having 150 guests that on the street parking will be a problem? Does anyone know or has anyone had their wedding at Heinz?

isn't there a garage across the street?

phillychica had her wedding there last fall - maybe page her (put her name in a post title)?

I think the closest garage is the Holiday Inn garage on Tennyson. I think that for weddings, they allow people to park on both sides of Bellefield. If you're getting married in the summer (May-mid August), there are no students there and the parking is much more abundant.

I honestly wouldn't let parking keep you from getting married there.

I'm getting married there as well and we are directing people to park either at the Holiday Inn (we have a block of rooms there) or Soldiers and Sailors garage.  You can also block off parking on the side of the street right next to the chapel through the Pittsburgh Police...I believe it is $100 for the duration of the ceremony.

    Hope that helps!

My wedding was at Heinz last August. As mdooley mentions you can pay $100 to have Bellefield Street reserved, a cop is there before/during/after the ceremony directing traffic and parking. That's what we did and it was money well spent. Other guests either parked at meters or in garages. I know the Holiday Inn lot is small and can fill up, but Soliders and Sailors is usually a safe bet as it's quite large.
But as others have mentioned, definitely don't let the parking situation keep you from having your wedding there. Plenty of weddings take place there each year with your amount of guests (and larger) and things go fine!
    Good luck!

When we went to a wedding there, we just parked relatively close on the street (I'd say within two blocks) and then walked. There are also a ton of parking garages in the area including the Holiday Inn one which is closest. While it may be a bit of a trek for older guests, there's a Parking Authority garage at Meyran and Forbes, the garages at Presby and Montefiore, the garage at Forbes Tower across from Meyran and Forbes, et cetera. Plus, there are areas of houses north of Heinz Chapel which tend to have free street parking on weekends. I always forget about it since I'm more familiar with the hospital area garages, but there's also the Soldiers and Sailors garage super close too.

Just watch out if you are planning a wedding in May. It can get crazy in Oakland with commencement for Pitt and move out days! It seems like every Saturday they are holding a different event!
