How should I involve my stepdad in my ceremony?

My mom and stepdad live in Norfolk, VA. I have only met my stepdad twice. and I spent about 5 days or so with them during the summer in 2010. I want to incorporate him into the wedding somehow, but I don't know how to do it. Can you please give me some ideas?

  • The first big question- is your dad still in the picture?  If so, you want to make sure that you don't let your desire to include your stepfather overshadow your dad's role.

It's wonderful you want to include your stepfather.  However, given the apparent small amount of interaction the two of you have had, I would think he isn't expecting to play a major part in the wedding. other than as your mother's escort.  You can certainly make sure he has a boutonierre and mention him in the program.
  • thank you for your help!
  • You might also ask him to do a reading if you are having any.
