name change for honeymoon????

Hi I am getting married 7-7-12. We are not going on our honeymoon until 08-24-12. i live in PA. I was wondering if anyone knew how long it would take to get my name changed.. I was thinking of trying to start the process on the 9th. I want to put my airline tickets for my honeymoon under my new last name. But i am worried that i won't be able to get my name changed in that time.. what do you think??? Please help!!!   Some of my friends said that it takes no time at all and that i will be able to do change my name others say wait till after the honeymoon.. I just dont' want to wait 2 months to change my name.

Wait until after the honeymoon to change your name, you'll save yourself a lot of headaches.

You need the triple seal license to change your name at the Social Security Office (which is where you need to start) and you have to order it from the county. The triple seal isn't even ready until 10 or so business days after your wedding.

We got married on May 12th and I stil haven't changed mine. It's a pain the butt that I'm putting off until after we move at the end of the month.

Thats the thing if you say it takes only 10 business days to get the marriage certificate then i would still have plenty of time to get my name changed. im not going on my honeymoon for 48 days after i get married... and i was thinking of the next day after i get my certificate then i would go to the SS building and get a new social security card and then get my new drivers license..

Honestly it is best to just wait until after your honeymoon to take care of it - if something goes wrong you will have bigger issues.

This.  It is just a hassle.  PLUS the longer you wait to get plane tickets the more costly, less prime seating to choose from, etc.  And FYI you have to pay $25 to get a license with your new last name - update cards are free to get and free to replace if you lose one.

I'm pretty positive that the SS building is closed on Sundays, not that one day is a huge deal, but you need to look into things like that as well.  As PP said, just wait, save yourself the trouble.

Someting else to think about-are you leaving the country for your honeymoon? If so, you would have to change your name on your passport. To do that, you have to order a whole new one.

And you don't get the certificatie the day after. You get a piece of paper that your officiant fills out. It is by no means an official document.
