Outdoor Wedding

We are in the early planning stages for a fall outdoor wedding next year. Some of the things we have in mind are a barn/farm, a covered bridge?, a state park.

I have a few places in mind, but I was curious if anyone is planning a wedding in any of the state parks. I am having trouble finding information on what I would need to do and I live in Florida so it is becoming a bit difficult.

I am open to anywhere in the state. I really like Putnum County and Brown County or outside of Indianapolis.

Here is a list of the state parks and reservoirs in Indiana. http://www.in.gov/dnr/parklake/2392.htm#propertylist I think you'll want to look for something like 'Shelter Reservations' or 'Shelter Rental'.

If you are wanting to use a park that's within a city, I think you probably have to contact the city's park department for info about rental.

I am in love with the idea of Cataract Falls. I saw that I can rent the shelter at the bottom of the falls and also the covered bridge. I can't get a feel for how far apart the two actually are, it appears that they are just on opposite ends of the parking lot? It has been awhile since I have been and I never really paid attention to where the shelter was. It includes the parking lot by the falls so I was thinking if I rent both that would give us more room and have less chance of other park guests interupting the ceromony. I love the idea of getting married at the bridge. I am a sucker for covered bridges.

This isn't a state park...but in Lafayette, we're using Wea Creek Orchard.  For the day before, day of, and day after you get the barn as well as anypart of the orchard that you want to use for $500.  It's beautiful.

I recently posted our vendor/venue reviews and our ceremony was at the Brown County state park with the reception at Salt Creek golf resort right next door to the park--depending on time of year/number of guests/etc. you might look there.  I'm happy to help with any questions that you have about our experience there if need be :)

There are some great barns around the state if you are interested in that.  County Line Orchard in Hobart is amazing!!
Others: Wea Creek Orchard, Trader's Point Creamery in Zionsville, Red Barn Experience in LaPorte.

    Good luck!

We would love to host your ceremony and reception at Buena Vista Farms, Inc. We are in Central Illinois, make it a destination!  I love planning and helping my brides be stress free and have fun.  I own a vast selection of tabletop decorations, interesting backdrops and have a permanent white tent, a barn, a corn crib, pergola and gazebo on the 145 acre site.  Next week you can view my ad on The Knot!  I will be a new advertiser soon. • Vermillion, Parke, and Vigo counties have some amazing parks as well.  Turkey Run in Parke county has a lot of great options.
  • 1878 Barn in Bridgeton, IN. Very decent price with barn plus covered bridge right down the road! Here is the site: http://www.bridgeton1878house.com/
