Michiana Area Wedding Cakes/Florists?

I'm looking for any recommendations or feedback on any wedding cake and florist type vendors for my wedding in South Bend next summer. Any advice or ideas anyone might have to share would be great! :) thanks!

hi there!we are using rascia for our cake and michaelangelos for our flowers.  i won't have full vendor reviews until our wedding this october but so far they have both been wonderful. i picked them both based on reading other great reviews.  rascia has a bakery in her home (she is in bristol) and was super sweet when we met with her. the cake we had at the tasting was delicious! the crew at michaelangelos have been so awesome to work with. they did an awesome job on my centerpiece demo! they have a reputation of being pricey but will work with any budget. i kinda gave them a target price range and they made sure not to go over it.good luck! let me know of any questions! and happy planning!!jen

I'm using Martin's for the flowers-they are very affordable and they work with you. My sister, step-brother, and a couple girlfriend's have all used Martin's as well. The only thing though, we have to pick up the flowers the day of, they don't deliver. But that is not a problem, there are many people that are willing to help. And "Cake" for the cake, it is inside Within a Wing and a Prayer and it is soooo good! I was referred to them by my girlfriend who got married in 2006. We are getting chocolate cake with chocolate frosting! mmm!! :) I will have reviews after September.

We are using Arlene's Cakes (she is out of Niles).  She was great to work with, does lots of different things, cake tasted great and the prices was Very good!  If you want a more modern fondant cake, I too have heard good things about Rascia's.  Have also heard it gets pricey!  We didn't want that type and we love what Arlene is going to do for us.  For flowers we are going with Wygants.  The owner Mary is very nice and has lots of ideas.  We are only going with real flowers for our bouquets and boutonnieres too.  I thought her pricing was good too.  Let me know if you have questions about either.

My FI and I are getting a cake from Rascia. It is a little pricey. But, we're going to have fondant. It's going to be beautiful and we can't wait to see it. I did try Arlene's cake at a bridal show and it was really, really good and her prices were excellent! Our florist is The Flower Cart, just up in Niles. We're working with Phil. He's great to work with, and is really good about working within our budget and makes great suggestions. Good luck!

thanks ladies for the suggestions--my fiance and I are coming up to the area next week and have appointments with each of the vendors you suggested now, so hopefully by the time my trip up there is over I have all the major vendors booked! :)
