FW Vendor Reviews

Hello all! I got married October 24 in Fort Wayne and thought I would share my thoughts on my vendors for all you FW Knotties out there.Reception Hall: Fort Wayne Women's Club (http://cerutis.com/a_halls_womansclub). The Women's Club is located on the 3rd floor of the Chamber of Commerce building. It's in an historic building and what sold us on the place was the parlor. The parlor overlooks the city with a fireplace (nonworking), molded ceilings and elaborate decoration. The various rooms all have original woodwork, stained glass and floors, and the place decorates itself. If you're looking to have your wedding in an historic building and would like something cheaper and more intimate, then I definitely recommend the Women's Club. The only downside is that it's catered exclusively by Ceruti's so if you aren't a fan, you have no other option.Catering: Ceruti's (http://cerutis.com/) We had a good experience with Ceruti's. We currently live in PA and they were more than willing to work via phone and email. They also made special arrangements with the Chamber of Commerce so we could come in the day before to set up.Flowers: Rose's Bouquets (http://www.rb-weddings.com/index.php). Recommended by a friend via Facebook, we were really happy with our flowers. Trista works out of her home and again was more than willing to work with us via email and phone. Our flowers were just what we asked for and stayed fresh the entire day, in fact, when we got back from our honeymoon a week later they were just starting to wilt!Cake: Hall's Takes the Cake (http://www.hallscatering.com/takesthecake.asp). We called around to various bakeries and decided to use Takes the Cake as they were the easiest to use from a distance. We had a cupcake cake and were very excited about it. We had different flavors for each tier and although the flavors were in a backwards order than we specified, overall we were pleased and it lived up to our expectations. We also had DeBrand chocolate curls on each cupcake and they were yummy as well.Photography: We used a friend from college who does semi-professional photography on the side, Sheena Bowen. We don't have our photos back yet, but she did post a few teasers on Facebook and we can't wait to see them all. Unfortunately, she lives in Illinois.Music: We used our church organist and a friend from high school, Franco Holder. He is an excellent musician, but incredibly hard to get ahold of and rarely returns messages. We were pleased with the ceremony music, but I honestly can't say if it was worth all the stress of non-returned phone calls! For our reception, we had dinner music provided by jazz drummer Tod Ramsey and his quartet. For after dinner music we used our laptop and ITunes. Looking back, I would much rather have paid the extra money and had a dj for dancing. It would've been a lot easier and we wouldn't have had to deal with people taking over our ITunes. While some things didn't go exactly as planned (my mom choked on salad at dinner and needed the heimlich!), it was a fantabulous day that went by way too quickly for us. My advice to all the brides out there is to go with the flow and not let little things bother you on your big day. Take a moment for you and your new husband, your guests can entertain themselves for a few minutes. Finally, look around and take in all of your hard work. It's all worth it!
