Anybody have any good salon recs for their wedding day? Preferably in Portage or Valparaiso.

I got my hair done at Vanis in Valpo when I was in my friend's wedding and I LOVED my hair (although I can't remember the girl's name). The girl who did her mom's hair wasn't very good. And when I've gotten my hair cut there, the girls haven't really given their opinion when I asked what they thought I should do w/my hair. It was kind of annoying. So it seems like it's hit or miss.

Anyways, I've been thinking about trying out some salons before committing to one and wondered if anyone had any recs.

My cousin actually works at Salon Amara, so I might try that, and maybe Hair Sculptors and Terry Abner's Salon all in Valpo.

    I dont know that area very well, so I can't give you recommendations out there, but if you have trouble finding one there and decide to go a bit further out panache salon and spa in crown point is great! all of the girls who work there are fantastic, but the ones I normally go to are Kelly Dykstra (owner) and Traci.  www.panachesalonandspa.com

    My mom has been going there since it opened, and we have referred a ton of people there and they have all been happy with it.

    I usually get my hair done in the mall in merrillville at Regis. Shannon is VERY good and so is Michelle.

    I got my hair done there when I was in my friend's mom's wedding a few years ago and holy hell my head was hurting so bad right after she got done, probably from so many pins stabbing my head, my mom had to run to kmart and get some medicine. I thought I was going to pass out or get sick, it was ridiculous lol.

    kaleena is the manager... their under new management. She's great. My head did not hurt. It actually stayed in all the next day as well. If anything i'd just ask for her directly if possible. Just recommending her... good luck.

    I've always had a hard time finding a great stylist in that area, but got a great recommendation for her.
