I'm really interested in seeing responses on this as well. I'm really nervous about this decision because DJs really set the tone for the entire reception. Any help would be much appreciated!!
He's younger, a little newer to the professional DJ scene but we met with him and he's a very cool guy. Plays in a band, DJ's, and just has an obvious love of music. He's playing everything for the reception and any special lighting we want is included all for $600. My FI used to sell sound equipment and asked every question he could think of about his equipment and he's very knowledgeable. He's also on the Indy A List.
We also met with Jim Cerone. Definitely a more seasoned professional, has an office, very professional presentation, etc. But, he was just too expensive for what we needed. If we were having over 250 people coming we may have gone with him because there's no doubt in our minds that he's an amazing DJ who would be worth it to get such a big crowd going, but for just 4 hours of reception music he wanted almost $3,000.
When I interned with Memory Makers event planning a lot of brides used IndySounds and they always did a pretty good job.
We used David with Platinum DJ Productions (platinumdjproductions.com) and he was so great. I had seen him at a couple other weddings and knew I liked him right away. He's got a ton of energy, he's prepared, he played whatever I wanted and he didn't talk constantly through the reception like some DJs will do. He really kept out dancy floor going all night long. I believe his fee was $550 for 4 hours and an extra $100 for each additional hour.
One of H's groomsmen is an awesome DJ. We obviously couldn't use him but several of our friends have and he does special events in bars like he just did a NYE party at a bar.
I don't think he has a website, but his name is Jason Deckard and his email address is: johndckrd@yahoo.com
We're going with DrFeelGoods from Fort Wayne (http://www.doctorfeelgoodsinc.com), they've been in business for over 30 years and won several local awards. They're EXTREMELY professional and very helpful.
I'm not sure what area you are in, but we are going with George Mize D.J. service (www.djmize.com) in the Peru/Logansport area. He has done several parties for my parents in the past and my aunt and uncle's wedding and has always done a great job. We booked him for our wedding, and he has been great to work with, 6 hours for $600, he has tv screens and a projector for videos/special effects, and every one of our guests gets a glowstick from him.
He's just been really helpful, he has even called me just to let me know about bridal shows coming up in case I hadn't heard about them.
